I have a 04 engine, supposedly. Whats the engine serial?

I have a 02 but i got the 04 engine, thats what i was told. How can I find out if the engine is from an 04 maxima?

But the thing is, I want to be sure if its an 04 engine or not, is there anything else i can look at to see if it is besides the IM?
and by pre, you mean the first '04 engines before the newer 04 kind came out ,right?

sorry for asking all these questions but Im curious .

All 04 model years, no matter if they were manufactured in 03, were external EGR. You would need to get the VIN in which that engine came out of and track it from there.

Is there really any reason why you absolutely need to know? Do you have just the engine, does it have pre cats and such attached to it still or what form is it in?

04 I35 is possible, it's the same engine a in A33B's. (5.5 gens)
