I have a 02 but i got the 04 engine, thats what i was told. How can I find out if the engine is from an 04 maxima?

 

Does it have external EGR?

 

Whats the EGR, how does it look like?

Does the IM have this small hole on it ... if it even has an IM

Looks like a pre 04 FWD then.

 

But the thing is, I want to be sure if its an 04 engine or not, is there anything else i can look at to see if it is besides the IM?
and by pre, you mean the first '04 engines before the newer 04 kind came out ,right?

All 04 model years, no matter if they were manufactured in 03, were external EGR. You would need to get the VIN in which that engine came out of and track it from there.

Is there really any reason why you absolutely need to know? Do you have just the engine, does it have pre cats and such attached to it still or what form is it in?

or did the I30s stop at 03s ?

 

04 I35 is possible, it's the same engine a in A33B's. (5.5 gens)
