I can't aim my headlights

Hey everyone
I just recently lowered my car and can't enjoy my hids ever since because it is just pointing towards the ground. I went to housecor's website and looked up how to aim headlights. But my problem is that 8mm white plastic **** doesn't work, regardless of tightening it or loosening it, the beam height doesn't change. This is the case on both sides, as a matter of fact the passenger side feels like it's stripped, its so loose I can turn it with my fingers but the driver side seems normal but no matter how much I tighten or loosen the beam height stays the same. I hope someone can offer my some advice or tell me what I am doing wrong because as I was driving home tonight I did not feel safe at all because my headlights weren't doing their job.

I'm gonna assume the adjusters are shot, like the ones on my headlights.

Try some PB blaster to work them free, or something.. Otherwise, not sure how to fix the issue.

No doubt man.. I drive 5 hours a week or more at night because of work, I know what you mean exactly. I also have un-adjustable HIDs that point slightly low for my liking.

you can physically shim the headlight so it aims higher up. other options would be spend $100 bucks and upgrade to 55W 6k HIDs in your headlights and foglights, you'll be putting ALOT more light on the ground

Yeah, you'll be putting more light on the ground a couple feet in front of the bumper where it doesn't do anything. The problem is that the aim is bad. No amount of bulb swapping is going to fix the headlight pointing too low.

If the PB blaster doesn't work, I'd consider opening up the headlights and trying to free up whatever is bad there, or make a new adjuster out of some misc hardware and brackets. It's mounted so that the reflector can pivot, and the screw just pushes it along the pivot. ghetto-rig something to hold it at the right aim, like a shim or bracket, and you'll be solid.

Actually I agree entirely... If the headlight is too low, why spend money to get brighter bulbs, that point too low?

It does not make a single bit of sense. Nice try though.

I have to figure my adjusters out too.. Maybe I'll work on it this weekend and report back.

adjust it with shims. like i said before. obviously neither of you have upgraded 5th gen fogs/headlights to 55w. please stop talking about what you don't know about.

shims plus $100 bucks in 55w lights will fix his problems. PERIOD.

thx for the help!

Shims will fix his problem. Oh, and I have 55w HIDs in my headlights. So I might know what I'm talking about. If they're aimed too low, you can't see ****, no matter how bright they are.

thanks a lot for your input guys!
so what you guys are saying is basically adjust the reflectors to the desire position and hold it with some shims which are like spacers right?
Again I appreciate everyones help and hopefully I can drive confidently at night again !

No, I haven't upgraded the perfectly fine stock lights, and no I haven't shimmed my headlights, because they come with adjusters, for this purpose.

I don't care that I "don't know what I'm talking about" because that is a ghetto backyard fix.

Sounds like a great way to **** $100 into the wind though!!

I can't believe a resolution wasn't posted yet. Buddy, just take the headlights out and take a pair of plyers and adjust them up. It's gonna be trial and error but it will work. My headlights are like that, unfortunately.

Thank you, for at least saying there has not yet been a solution. I rest my case

what do you adjust with the pliers exactly? on the back of the headlight all there is is the plastic adjustment disks.
