07 corroded positive battery terminal

Has anyone had issues with their positive battery terminal corroding to the point it's disintegrated?

Have an 07 Max. I had issues with rolling up the windows after parking her for the day. Upon investigation, the positive terminal mounted on the battery post was loose. I went to tighten it but nothing happen but fall apart. I got a new terminal from the dealer. It was a bear trying to get the main nut off. I ended up damaging the plastic on the fusible link trying to break the nut loose that connects the main cable.

I've never seen anything like that before and when I picked up the terminal the parts guy said they go thru lots of them. I didn't see any TSB's... This just doesn't seem right. She's barely 3 years old...

I replaced mine a year ago for the same reason with an Energizer from Wal-Mart. Smaller, has more CCA, and only $89.

the terminal , not the battery

BTW , to the OP do you have a hugh sound system ? more than likely the corrision is because the terminal is loose.

when you installed the new terminal add some grease on the post, this will help prevent corrosion

Since you are clarifying, I will concur so I don't confuse you.

My battery terminal was corroded because my battery was leaking acid. So, I replaced the battery. Now, there is no more corrosion.

First battery lasted a year and dealer replaced with "Nissan" battery. A year later, the + post was loaded with corrision so I bought a terminal cleaner and using that and an old toothbrush and a little baking soda cleaned it all up. Sprayed it with red battery lube and all is good. No more corrision.

I had the same problem, car died, jumped it and thought it was the battery. Went to right the clamp and snapped the clamp. I think its just a cheap part they put on.I replaced with universal clamp, should probably get one from the dealer. How much was it from the dealer?

problem

i've had this problem with all the nissans that I have had, best solution is cleaning it with a can of coca cola believe it or not. better than regular cleaners and much cheaper.

It happened to my 05, just fell apart. Luckily Nissan sells just the end piece and dont have to replace the whole wire. Yes the nut was a bear to get off finally used my impact gun on it and that worked perfect.
