00vi swap this weekend. a few Q's

Can I lean out the A/F ratio somewhat safely without the use of a wideband?(using an Apexi VAFC)
if not
How horrible does the car run untuned with the 5th gen injectors?
if terrible
How frustrating is the drilling nessesary for the hybrid 4th gen LIM 5th gen UIM?

the car runs a bit richer up top but the idle is fine on the AFR aspect. Tune -5% above 3200rpm in wide-throttle gets you in the 13's afr up top.

drilling the 4th gen lower to adapt with the VI has been done by a machinist but I suggest you take the time to find a 5th gen lower, its 100% bolt on.

Do you have 5th gen injector clips?? if not, weld the wires on the injector pins and shut the holes with engine gasket paste. Turning around the 4th gen lower need a grounding wire to be made to ground your front injectors.

keep the questions coming...

you can drill the 4th gen lower and use threaded rods to fill the holes vs using a machinist but its a pain

i am a little confused about the fuel rail adaptation. i cant find a proper writeup on how to make the 5th gen rail work with the 4th gen line. Is it more than just a matter of getting fuel to rail? I read something about a piece that restricts flow that i will need.

Any updates on the swap? I will be doing the swap in the near future. I've been taking my time, prepping the upper IM using shadyonedeath's tutorial.

I have looked through heaps of 00vi threads, and am looking to see if it is possible to use the 5thG LIM with the 4thG rail + inj = fuel reg, but it seems not, until what you have stated..... "if not, weld the wires on the injector pins and shut the holes with engine gasket paste." Please explain a little more by what you mean by weld wires to injector pins and shut the holes with engine gasket paste.
