Went to the junkyard

So I went to the junkyard today to look at a 98 I30 with "black" interior.
Get there and the thing had beige leather. As I was walking back to the Maxima's I spotted a Black Q45. I walked over and noticed the headrests and remembered my buddy's Q has tilting headrests. I pulled one out and put in the maxima next to it, and it fit. I grabbed both for $10. They look great, the only downfall is that they dont lock in place for higher positions, but I never raise my headrests

I bought them because they tilt, but I love how low they are so that when I turn to make sure nobody is beside me I dont have to look over them. Also they seem to match the rears better

Thats dangerous. Just get truck mirrors and you wont have to worry about looking to side.

Thats a sweet deal, do you know if the stock 98 Maxima leather head rest cover can replace those Q 45 ones or the I30 ones?

True about the I30, was just wondering because I have new leathers seats and if I picked these up I would swap the leather covers. You got a steal though, some guy on the Org was selling them for 100 bucks.

the I30 headrest do fit and the tilt and the whole-9, the would proabably look better aswell especially in the higher positions.

... People sell I30 head rests in the classifieds all the time, i even have a set in my car. Now that being said and the information already made apparent in this thread it would seem that if they all seem to fit in the Maxima... Than they most likely all fit in the latter.

I think what he was getting at is, will the covers from the maxima headrests fit over the I30 and Q headrests

Im thinking of taking one out and attempting to cut notches that resemble the ones on the maxima headrest so these can raise up and down. Should I do it?? Or how about cutting the "poles" off the maxima HR's and welding them on to the Q HR's

exactly.... remove the i30 headrest cover and fit the maxima one right over it. I have a new set of leather seats, so I need to know if the dimensions of the I30 headrest cushion itself will fit the maxima headrest. Looking at the pics it doesn't appear that the Q headrest would accommodate the maxima cover.

notching the holes should be easy, just take your time. uhh welding the poles seems more trouble than its worth, give it a try if you like.

Tilting headrest are usually one of the first things I add to my cars if they dont come equipped with them!

92-94 Maxima
96-98 I30
93-97 J30

I've used/using and they all fit right. I had a set of J30 MINT headrest for sale here for a long time but I guess asking $50 was way too much for some people.

I would have snatched them off you for that price. Someone was selling the i30 ones for 150 bucks. The questions is does the Maxima headrest cover fit snugly over them?

I've never tried replacing the cover itself...rather the whole unit. I can source good condition tilting black leather headrest for a good price. Let me know if you're interested...

Look how purdy they looked when they were in my 3rd gen

I was looking a set more than a year ago and gave up looking. Colombian max, I would like a pair, they do look sick but looking at the shape of them I don't think the maxima covers will properly fit them. I have custom leather so a perfect leather swap is a must for me.
