It just crossed my mind...

So I did it

I bought some black carbon fiber pleather for the front dash but that can wait..while driving home from work i was thinking..how will the steering wheel look like if i customize it a bit?
So pic is before the project

I first wanted to take the NISSAN emblem off.but it was impossible to get to the back of the horn cover because of the airbag

So i had to leave i hanging while i was cutting the pleather and applying the first coat of contact adhesive(to fill up the pores)

After the first coat on pleather was semi dry, another coat was applied to to it as well as to the horn cover. Here's a pic with the adhesive dry and ready to join them together

Now pics of finished project

WOW! Just like that a modded wheel. Not bad at all. I think I'd still like to see the Nissan logo though, but nicely done.

As a safety concern, I wonder how it would affect the airbag deployment.

Did you disconnect the battery before removing the airbag/horn?

I really wanted to show the nissan emblem.I thought I'll get to it easily.but i went into a wall when i opened it.i tried taking it off and it looks like it has a pin that holds it in th middle..yes i can brake it but will just a glue do to put it back on?

I dont think it will affect the airbag deployment.that vinyl is thin and if the airbag has capability to go through the dash on pass side or frontseats..or even horn cover,I dont think a vinyl will stop it.Also the Airbag safety warning tells u not to seat kids in front cuz airbag might injure or kill them.so i dont doubt the vinyl will stop it at all.

KCMaxx, idk what you mean by "Link to said product"

^^ Holy crap. I'm not an engineer or anything but my guess would be that the front airbags did not deploy was b/c the car went "under" whatever it hit as you can see the scrapes all the way up the hood on the driver's side. It looks like it rear-ended a trunk and slid under the bumper so the sensors were not activated by direct impact. On a direct impact the hood would have folded like an accordion. The passenger side did not deploy either.

UPDATE:
I took the cover off and started playing with it.i cut the pleather around the emblem edges first and i was trying to put it behind it with a butter knife and a screw driver

After that I thought i"ll put a grey CF pleather inside the emblem to match my door panels(im doin em grey)

DONE

So..lookin Better huh

Thanks everyone for compliments..I see after all that it wasnt bad what ever it was that crossed my mind this morning.

cmejatt.I have 2 door panels done already with grey(the cloth part),but the shop went out in the material so i have to wait till they get some more in stock so I can finish my last 2 doors. Also the door handles i wanna covers them in black CF Pleather so in can match more..after that done, follows the dash with black also

Haha once again nice work, UniqueMax. I usually don't like the CF look but you made it work there. OT: You've gotta get a better phone camera. Your camera doesn't do your work any justice man!
