Squeaky struts

Hey, all!

Noticed the car sounding like a chirping bird (lol) while driving in a parking lot a couple of days ago. Today, i randomly pushed on the driver's side of the car and the same sound happened. Seem like it's coming from the front-left strut. The dust boots are shot on the bottom. Could it be it or the strut mounts? if it's the dust boots, i'll put some grease in there and see if that helps. Doesn't seem like it's coming from under the hood (didn't have enough time to diagnose, started raining).

Thank you, guys!

Make sure the nut at the top of the strut is tightened.

If it was the bushing whenever he turns the corner, it would be as if he is losing control when he turns.

simple solution...seeing as how if its a mount you need to disassemble the strut anyhow why not just buy shock strut spring deal on ebay...

well, it's not the mount or the strut itself. seems like it's coming from the suspension. i'll try to put some wd-40, and see if that changes anything.

The Strut is part of the suspension. Check all you bushings and links. Do a bounce test also, if the up and down movement is stuff then its ok, if its loose them yo have a problem. Check your FSB bushings, stabilizers, also check your steering components. Make sure there arent any leaks showing.

Also you said your dust boot is shot, most likely dirt got into the struts, either way you will need to replace them. Once dirt gets into the strut, it will start to deteriorate the seal inside, once the seal breaks the oil from the strut will come out, and then you're strut will be blown. So either way you will need to buy new struts.

she took it to our mech today. he told me it were the bushings on the control arm. put some grease on them, seemed to help. the noise did come back again though. I'll do some more looking and update.

p.s. can a mod move this to the appropriate forum, please lol
