I hurt My week old Maxima today! :(

I was at my cousin's house today and was parallel parking into a spot which had a fence right next to it, I hit the fence and rubbed my right rear bumper against it. I though it was scratched but it turned out that it was the coating of the fence. I'll post up pics soon of the damage, and how I cleaned it up.

That is why I like my rear sonars. Would buzz you to madness! And you would not hit a fence.

But, don't you have a backup camera?

Sorry that happened. And it is reasons like these that make me never want to lease a car. I always feel it is never really my car. And if something like this happens, and say the bumper is bent you worry more than someone who is buying a car. Glad you got it fixed, though.

Yea, Thanks, I do have the rear camera but the fence I hit was on the side, I was too worried about hitting the car behind me.

yes I love waking up from bad nightmares like that! lol. Yea too bad I was awake when i did this, lol. I was very relieved when I started to see my beautiful radiant silver paint after applying turtle wax a few times! Im very thankful It didnt even come close to penetrating the clearcoat.

I feel your pain brother. I scraped both driver side wheels as I was exiting the touchless carwash. Have some minor curb rash on both wheels. I know it's probably not very comforting but at least you're not the only one that hurt their baby today. Unfortunately I will have to buff out my damage with green cash.

That's what I like to hear! And Nissan does in fact have very good resistant paint!

I have noticed that Nissan's paint has improved since my last one in 2007. That car had ultra thin paint that would chip at the smallest stone hitting it. The Maxima does seem to have much better quality paint.

Man i Just dinged my 3 day old '10 thi smorning. Coming from Atlantic City to NYC I was dead tired (6am only 1 hour sleep..long story as to why i had to drive). I pulled intoa rest stop to take a nap. I turned into a parking spot where there was a curb and not realizing how far forward my hood extended, heard a painful scraping as my front bumper scraped over the sidewalk. Quickly reversed and jumped out. No visible damage except a msall inch long though very thin scrape on the bottom right of the bumper. Hard to seeunless you look for it but man, I'm so depressed over it.

My girlfriend suggested it could be smoothed out some how so that it didn't look as rough but it was a real downer, I've been so careful with my new ride ...Haven't had a chance to check for undercarriage damage but If there is any it is most probably superficial.

Guess it's time to share my story...where i faired much worse than you guys. Late one night I was maneuvering around a tight parking lot and there was about 4 feet of a random piece of steel that overlapped as part of a guard rail. I ended up backing into this sharp piece of steel leaving about a 4 inch gash with a dent in my rear passenger door. If I had kept on going there is a very good chance I could have pieced a hole in the door. I was absolutely heartbroken and disgusted with myself (and the parking lot).

There was a happy ending though. A family friend owns a body shop and for $250 he repainted and filled in the dent. Looks like it never happened, but i never want to go through that again!

use polishing compound and if that doesn't do the job then try rubbing compound.

My story was a bit less fortunate. A fence door adjacent to my driveway opened itself at night. When I backed out, the latch gouged two inches of my passenger door down to the steel and my right mirror. This, on a car with 1800 miles. The repair was $500. It was not a happy day.

I feel your pain.
Mine was about 3 weeks old in January when I took out the passenger side mirror backing out of the garage with barely any room next to my wife's SUV, talk about pissed off....
That was a nice $300 lesson, ordered the new mirror assembly from Courtesy Nissan and installed it myself to at least save some $$.

I hurt mine the other day as well so I know how you feel bro! Got behind a truck spitting rocks from it's new tires. Scratched the front fascia. Anyone know how to cleanly fix scratches without taking it to a body shop?!

Good thing to use is graffiti remover. It does not hurt the cars paint.
