Accessories on Backorder

I picked up my new Bordeaux Black Maxima Platinum on June 25. It needed some accessories, so they ordered them at that time. All came in within a couple of weeks except for the rocker panel moldings. Finally, last week, after waiting six weeks, I got Nissan Consumer Affairs involved. They have been in contact with my dealer and Nissan parts. Today I get a call from them stating it will be at least another two weeks! If they arrive in the two weeks, that will still be over two months for parts! So frustrating!

Brand new car, to be expected. Once everyone that wants that stuff has it, the inventory will grow and they'll be easier to get.

This is surprising considering nobody is actually buying this car.

I am beginning to see them on the street now. Took long enough. But R1600Turbo is correct that it is often difficult to get either accessories or replacement parts during the first few months of any generation of any make or model. At least that has always been my experience.

I have yet to see one. Finally saw the Maxima on the end of year Nissan sale ad. I have seen the same '16 Maximas on the inventory search for the past two months...they are not selling in New England.

That's Odd, we didn't have any problems ordering or looking into accessories yesterday. Everything we asked about was available. (We ended up only getting the rear spoiler. Other things like the splash guards, carpeted floor mats, trunk mat and net where already one the car.)

Our dealer had also just put on all the other major exterior trim pieces like the diffuser, spoiler, lights and rocker moldings on his car the week prior.

I'm curious if it's certain dealers only get an allotment of parts at a time.

This may be partly a factor of how well a particular dealer is doing. That can be a factor when cars of a new generation are being released to dealers. It is probably also a function of how and when and what accessories/replacement parts the dealer decides to order/keep in stock. Most dealers do not have unlimited room for storage of accessories and parts, and do not want to be sitting on anything that may not sell any time soon. Then there is the natural tendency to stock parts for a huge seller such as the Altima, but not order parts for a low volume seller such as the Maxima until the 'need arises.'

Maxiam Accessories

A local dealer in Arlington Heights IL had said they made a stocking order to have one of everything in stock. I have a Black SL.

I ordered the rear Black spoiler and it came in in 2 days- installed on the 3rd.

Purchased complete all weather Mats with trunk liner- in stock
Next , the Carbon fiber switch Covers and vents- in stock
Next, Color matched Rocker sides with Chrome- in stock
Last, the Black Rear color matched diffuser W/ Chrome in stock

I easily added a extra $. $1400 of extras to my SL and it looks Hot

I agree. It would be nice to see a 2016 with these accessories installed.

Were you planning on installing the rocker panels yourself?

No, not a chance. The dealer is doing it at no charge. All part of my deal when I bought the car.
