Fuel Injector cleaners?
Fuel Injector cleaners?
My car really hesitates when i accelerate, it takes a while to start, and runs good when cold but not when its warm. Ive been told not to trust fuel additives but am wondering if there is any stuff that people have used and have gotten good results.
Any ideas?

ever see those adds for ***** enlarging pills? ... same deal here magic cures dont work as advertised sometimes they may help a bit but they may also hurt! you should do more TS and find out whats up with your girl.
lol ... i've used em... but its more of a good maintenance habit than a cure-all that people want em to be... wait you were talkin bou the fuel injector cleaner not the pills ...ohh nevermind ... j/j
That stuff don't work nothing but your pockets... The best fix is maintenance. Have you done anything yet? Try cleaning MAF... replacing Fuel filter, Cleaning EGR etc... are you getting any codes? What fuel grade are you using?. Help us help you with more info.
I havent tried any of that stuff, i am getting a CEL and im using 87
Your car requires high octane fuel. 87 octane makes it run like crap. The first thing you should do is get a full tank of the highest octane you can get your hands on. There is a decent chance the CEL will turn off with better fuel.
If it does not, read the sticky in the main 4th gen forum on how to diagnose the CEL you're getting.

First retrieve your codes... this can help narrow down the problem. you should be using 91 or more octane... this can also deteriorate performance over time specially with not performing any maintenance. Get those codes!!!!
Ive heard a couple people on here using 87 thought it didnt make a difference. Ill use higher octane gas, and i used seafoam before and didnt really maake much of a difference to me
correct.
i used the prestone fuel injector cleaner and it works damn good. i had a car that would shake the steering wheel when is idling when it needed the prestone i ran it and would go away after like 20 miles and idle way smoother.
so ya its not a waste of money they work. either chevron cleaner, lucas or prestone none the others i wouldn't use.

Some articles to read if you're considering fuel additives to clean engine stuff.

Can't stress it enough to stop with the 87. and over-the-counter additives. Keeping you car tuned and proper octane will save you money in the end.
A lot too read this time of morning... but from what I did read and could understand is that what my assumption was of additives is correct in saying that buying over-the counter fuel additives is a waste when by law they provide additives in fuel at the pump. Question is who provides the best additive and being aware of certain types.
This was a great find and I maybe wrong I just scheme over it.
Can you give your thoughts on it... this could be a great thread to get others opinions

The key ingredient to Techron is polyetheramine. It's also found in Redline's SI-1 fuel system cleaner. Those articles tie polyetheramine to cleaning out injectors, among other things. Bob Is The Oil Guy has some writeups on it.

I still need to find some articles showing polyetheramine works better than, say, water (duh, no water in cylinders please!) in some randomized trials.
But what we do know is that the government hasn't shut down polyetheramine, techron, or redline... not like what they did with ZMax and their false advertising. (Well, Zmax reworded their claims and are back on the shelf now).
Have you been to your local Nissan Dealership Parts Dept? Right next to the Nissan Car Wash and Nissan Window Cleaner is the Nissan Fuel Injector Cleaner. It's in a white metal can, blue or black lettering, larger than a soda can, probably 16-20 oz. The can didn't have much description, except directions to use entire contents before filling up a tank of gas. There were no claims made on it. Maybe it was never meant to be sold directly to consumers, and only for the techs to use. But it's there.

I mean there is a market for the stuff, but my thing is you can't just depend on that along for a quick fix. You still have to do proper maintenance and use the correct fuel grade. Plus be careful of what fuel stations you purchase from. Some have additives to help keep those components clean and some have just what require by law for emissions
