Rear Defuser for my 95

so i had a spare bumper laying around and a friend of mine had this sentra stillin rear lip laying around.. long story short i wanted to see how it would look on the babk of our maxima trying to fill that gap we have when you have the Ionic Dynamics rears. so this is what i came up with and i want feedback from you. im not really diggin it so i think i might just scrap the project.

I want to develop a diffuser for our cars, but I haven't had the time/money for it. I think it would look pretty sweet and probably improve gas mileage if you had a proper one rather than just a lip. I say scrap the lip idea and make a real one from scratch, possibly using the above Evo as your inspiration.

i might go for the evo diffuser, cut it up and get it to fit.

i will most defiantly be working on this and it would be easy to make it aerodynamic. only problem is im going to have a rmt soon so mine would be a bit different.

Carbon fiber wise.. you best believe the defuser will be cf!!!

im getting pretty good at making cf parts.

If I get around to it, it will probably be in a year or more (school). I'm not sure if there would be any difference for the I30, but I'll be sure to check around when the time comes for someone local for a test fit.

I saw a while back someone made one for a 5th gen Max, but I'm pretty sure he never mass-produced them. It looked really sweet and he said it gave him 2-3 MPG improvement at highway speeds IIRC, which is significant enough for me to want to do it eventually, regardless of appearance. My design would probably be similar to his, made of black ABS sheet with an aluminum frame. IMO, it should look like it might have come from the factory like that to someone who doesn't know better.

hmm... looks to me like you could extend the two gaps between the outside fins and corners and put your exhaust cutout in between the far right one. right now the rear corners are similar to our stillen corners how they wrap around our bumpers and come in about 6 inches. if you make them more like ionic dynamics then it would give you more room to do the cutout...

know what i mean?

The ionic kit flows perfect with how this rear lip was originally shaped. The stillins are thin and extend longer so idk how it would work for them unless I just make this as a solid one piece rear lip for us 4th gens

my thoughts exactly actually! lol might make it a bit more expensive but it would look so much cleaner! you could even build in the exhaust cutout cover someone was asking for! itd be a sexy finish to the cf ionic or rear replacement for the stillen!

It would just be hard to please everyone with a complete defuser bucause not every 4th gen has the same style exhaust. I guess I could just make it for oem then go from there. I'm thinking about just changing it to a 3 fin design that way there is more room for an exhaust and it flows better with the original exhaust cutout

Looking through this - and remembering your CF skills from your other thread about that... I'd say create one - based somewhere between the one Alexx0108 showed and the lip you've already 'built' - ie maybe take that shape that you've built and expand it under the car the way the other does.

As for what to do with the exhaust - if single - create a 'hump' around the muffler - and an outlet hole for the pipe -

Though I did hook an old school Celica up (79 Toyota Celica 22RE, 5MT, RWD) with exhaust exits on each side of the license plate (which is on the trunklid on that car) ....

Yeah I hear yeah. I just don't know how long I would wanna extend it out. Like to the bar for the suspension. Should I curve it over or just go under. I think I'm just gonna focus on the lip for now then attach the defuser later
