Have a 97 maxima project I'm working on, and the front bumper ended up getting pretty messed up, found a kid down the street with a 95-96 front bumper.

I've found a few threads as of how to put the 97-99 bumpers on a 95-96, but not the other way around. Wondering if it was possible.

Also within the same subject out of curiosity, if a 95-96 rear bumper would fit on the 97.

yes grill wont fit though

 

yes it is possible. you would need to change the grille to a 95-96 also, or modify the 97 one. also need to worry about the fog lights, if you have foglights, they are a different shape between those years.

regarding the rear bumper, I don't know if there is anything preventing the 95-96 bumper from bolting right on or not.

 

The bumper support is suppose to be different for the rear which is why the 97-99 have the longer rear bumper. So I do not think it will fit
