some general ? for those with exhaust, ww kit and CAI
some general ? for those with exhaust, ww kit and CAI
ohhhh k, i just inherited some $. it was going to go toward a turbo project on my max, but that is probably no longer the case . . .at least for now. I need to keep the max reliable enough to drive to college every day and on long trips. . . anyway, i'm looking at jackson supercharging my prelude and racing that. . . ok, i still drive my max ALOT, and I really hate having it so stock. I was considering teh budged Y pipe because of price, it's not mandrel, but a difference at 3 hp at the most is minimal. also, I'm going to install a pr cai and WW body kit. . . ok, here are the questions.
1. for exhaust: i just need some info on the budget pipe before i order it. oh, i was going to run that, a high flow cat, and 2 1/2" all the way to a nice muffler . . . too big? i figured 2.5 would be ok. . . it's mandrel bent stainless.
2. ordered PR CAI, do i need teh AEM bypass valve? is it really that necessary?
3. those with the WW kit, i have ST 1.5" springs and 17" rims with 234 45 tires, will i have any bottoming out problems? I don't want to destroy the kit. . . i think i'm going to mod the front similiarly to the big mouth kit the dude with the purple max did
i know i was talkin turbo, but when it came down to it, it wasn't practical to do that to THIS car. i purchased a 92 Prelude 4ws from my grandma (yeah i know, she has an S2000 too, crazy!) and i'm gonna play with that as well. . . the max is just gonna be my nice daily, already did the whole stereo, carbon fiber kit, rims, and now i'm getting down to a lil more performance than just my pop charger and tip (i hate my ghetto exhaust!)

your prelude?
does your sister know about this?
anyway...
1) sounds like a plan...no idea about the budget pipe though
2) no need for the valve dude...i haven't had a problem yet and i've been through some crazy weather
3)
but im gonna be lower with the kit come spring so we shall both cross our fingers

Re: some general ? for those with exhaust, ww kit and CAI
not being critical, but why not open up a ROTH IRA or a mutual fund with the money? I believe there are ways around getting hit with the capitail gains taxes if you roll over the money into a tax exempt account.
just and idea

that's sorta taken care of. i turned 21 on tuesday, so teh college fund i have was turned over. . .sort of, i had the option of taking quarterly payments for "bills adn college expenses" so they're tax exempt, while the rest of the 450k sits nicely invested. . . . don't worry, i'm not blowing my money.

2: stay away from the bypass valve. They have recalled this thing twice and I still don't have faith in it. Wast of $$$
3: You NEED stiffer Struts/Shocks. KYB/AGX worked for me better than the more expensive Tokicos and don't require painful fabrication.
Good luck! Post some pics when it's all done!

well considering the AGX's aren't made for us and the lesser expensive would be GR2's...
