FS:CA: 97 Maxima GLE "As is" for repairs or "parts car" - $800 OBO

Hey Guys,

***HAS BEEN LISTED ON EBAY (SO YOU CAN VIEW THE FREE AUTO REPORT) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1995-...item19bf4c6908 ***

***PRICE LOWERED TO 800 OBO!*** Make me an offer!

I'm selling my 97 Maxima GLE as an "As Is" or "Project Car" or "Fixer Upper" or "Parts Car" or whatever you want to call it. I recently blew the head gasket and I didn't really feel like getting the car fixed because I would have either 1. rebuild the engine or 2. swap a new engine... which both I cannot do myself so I would pay up the *** in labor, so I'm looking at around $400+ for the fix. I wanted to sell it off to someone who would get more out of it than me because it would cost them less if they either had 1. hook ups or 2. knows how to do the work. I AM thinking about getting it fixed because this car will run for many more miles after the fixes and will remain reliable, but thats if I don't get any decent offers. Without further a due, let me describe the car and list "The Good" and "The Bad"

- Location: Anaheim, CA (home of Disneyland)
- 1997 Nissan Maxima GLE in Green, 4 Door Sedan
- Automatic Transmissioin
- Completely Stock (all replacements were OEM)
- ~258K miles (and going if you treat her right)
- After market stereo head unit. Brand: Dual
- 2nd Onwer of the car, bought it at 191K miles from a trusted owner who took pretty good care of it but couldn't save the leather cuz he didn't bother to tint all the way around, but I didn't either cuz I thought I was gonna throw replacement seats in it)
- Exterior 6/10
- Interior 6/10 (When I bought it was 7.5/10 overall for both int and ext)
- Comes with the Factory Nissan Rims

The Good:
- New Radiator installed at 220K miles
- New Rebuilt Transmission put in at 240K miles
- Timing belt and Water pump replaced at 190K miles (by prev. owner)
- A/C Belt replaced at 190K miles (by prev. owner)
- Fuel Rod replaced at 189K miles (as told by prev. owner. *shrugs*)
- Engine was still running very strong and reliable before HG blew.
- Driver side axle replaced at 210K miles
- New Starter installed at 254K miles
- Front Brakes (w/Rotors) replaced at 245K miles
- Rear Brakes replaced at 230K miles
- Tags registered till January 2011 and was smogged prior registration for 2010 so you don't have to smog it till 2012.
- Last Tune up was at 244K miles (so probably due for one at ~260K miles)
- Tires still have good tread on them; Replaced at 233K miles
- Power everything still works fine like windows and power seats, so all the "electricals" are still good.
- 2 Rims were replaced with OEM Factory Nissan Rims and were put in the front and older ones got rotated to the back... still really clean and in great condition. Was put it at 210K Miles
- No Frame Damage

I think there's a couple more "good" things but I forgot. I have some of the paperwork regarding the replacement+labor for the parts, but I lost some of the other stuff, but I'm not trying to hide anything. I want to make it easier for the next person who gets the car. The car is mechanically sound all the way around besides the engine and A/C and probably want to change out the suspension in the next 10K miles or so.

The Bad:
- Obviously engine problems since I blew the HG as stated above
- A/C Compressor needs to be replaced since its gone bad, maybe belt too.
- Very small oil leak due to car being old (ya know, normal wear & tear)
- Interior leather is cracked and tearing on Driver's side, Passenger side still good, one small rip. Rear seats leather was damaged on driver side due to Acetone spill and melted the leather. So put in Universal Generic rear seat covers over it.
- Exterior - dings and dents from normal wear & tear plus Passenger side fender is dented from a minor collision in the rain from a hydroplane - no frame damage I steered the car to avoid any real damage, and the Trunk and Hood are a little pushed over but both still close fine.
- Paint is peeling off the hood and parts of the front of the car.
- Hydraulics are out on the hood supports so it won't stay up when you lift the hood
- I think the passenger's side strut needs to be replaced since the car is making creaking noises there... (nothing OEM replacements or Tokico Blues can't cure)
- Interior floor mats are dirty (haven't been able to give the car a professional car wash yet w/ interior cleaning. It broke down the week I was supposed to get it done)

That's about it for "The Bad" there's not really much else... She just needs some fixing and some TLC and she'll hold it down for you for many miles to come. She's been pretty good to me, but I really want to move on to another car. I fixed her and fixed her to keep her running solid and one last thing goes wrong... the engine... the straw that broke the Camel's back. I'm sure there's someone out there that'll at least fix her up and take care of her.

Looking to get $800 OBO. Cash takes it. I know I'm not going to get it but I wanted to set the price to get offers. All offers welcome. Shipping is offered at buyer's expense. I might be able to provide a free tow within 50 miles. Let's work out a deal somebody! If I don't get any decent ones, I'll just suck it up and fix her up. (since I recently met a few local people that can do the work for my car for tons cheaper but I found a charming little Impreza L that can become my GC8 project)

*I might be considering parting out* (I'd probably make more or you can the whole car as a deal)

Thanks for looking.

PICS: (gave it a quick little wash since its been sitting for awhile hence the water spots)

nothings fishy, thats what the prev. owner told me, I'm just going by that. He literally told me he got a bunch of things replaced before he sold me the car since he was a family friend. Not sure, he might have done it a lot earlier but he was just like i replaced this, this, and that. The car served me well for 4 years over 60K miles. He sold it to me at like 191k miles. Doesn't even matter now, its better to just swap the engine.

Anyways, I want this thing gone by this weekend possibly for $700!!! That's as low as I'll go!!! I need cash to get into an Impreza.

the timing was never touched on this car, you can clearly see it from the way the timing cover is still covered with the grey sealant, and there is no belt- these years and newer ones use a chain.

Sorry I guess I got lied to by prev. owner but I'm not surprised, I did a bunch of repairs after I bought it from him... when i took it to the mechanic before the HG blew, he said everything was fine and nothing needed replacing. I don't know THAT much about Maximas cuz I was still learning, but all my problems were sent to the mechanics. I just know I got a lot of stuff fixed.

I'll let it go for $550 FIRM.
I put too much into repairs in this thing, it still has potential, you guys should all know this. I could part out and make more than that.

I think I'm going to going restore the car, I did my research and found hook ups for body shop and parts, but I needed a good excuse to move on to another car. I'm going to keep it on sale for another few weeks.

Thanks, but anything under $500 is way too low. I've seen worse cars go for more.
