$200 for a LCA? I hope that was OEM.... You can replace the bushings and buy a ball joint and press it in. I was thinking of getting the Dorman's from AutoZone as people say that they are good and I could get a lifetime warranty on it as I am strapped for $$$.

For the price autozone charges for one you can buy both sides...

wow, thats pretty cheap. and the ball joint still looks in great shape its just the connecting bushings give my tire a bit of play and is causing popping noises its gotten so bad.

how much are those bushings and how do they go in cause i thought it needed to be pressed in.

You can get the es poly control arm bushings for around $35 from autozone. Or you can try out these: http://forums.maxima.org/group-deals...shing-set.html

If you need to get them pressed in (and removing the old ones is sometimes a PITA too) then you might want to just pick up the assembled arms from amazon...unbolt, swap, and done.

You can buy generic bushings at Advanced Auto for like 5.39 each x2 and you need to get them pressed at a machine shop or a shop with a press. I paid 10 bucks x 2 because I removed the old busing myself but my local machine shop charges 20 per LCA

Oh yea, you need to ask for 86,87,88 Maxima LCA bushing, any of those years works because they "dont" make them for the 3rd or 4th gen

Rubber will crack and go bad eventually just like yours are now. Poly wont do that. And IF it did you probably will have parted with the maxima loooong before then

I need to replace the control arm bushing as well but the only ones I can find are the ones on the front pin. I cant find the rear pin bushing on the control arm.Why is this? I would like to replace the whole control arm but I need the cheapest route right now.

You said you just replaced the LCA about 2 years ago and your having problems with it again. That doesn't sound right unless it was a really cheap LCA or you really beat on your ride. Have you looked into the rest of you front steering/suspension 2 see what's going on. Even an aftermarket LCA should last you longer than 2 years. Sounds like something else is going on and is fuucking up your steering/suspension. I just felt I had to suggest this cause I didn't see anything posted on this thread about the cause of your lower control arm to keep going.

Nope, we never said you needed to go to Autozone. I specifically said Advance Auto. I am anti-idiotzone unless its for warrantying items from my noob days of purchasing parts there.

So did you ever get the bushings or what?

If you read the OP's comments, he mentioned an oil leak that screwed up the replacement part.
