Asking for help in purchase decision...

I am looking for another nissan - I miss my 87 max, and have found the following locally:

1998 Maxima gle, 178k on the clock - $3300
2001 Infiniti I30t, 120k on the clock - $4500

I have not had a chance to drive either one yet, but both look almost new, both inside and out...

Both are auto, as due to knee injury, it's very hard for me to drive a stick...

This will be my daily driver, and I'm not familiar with the build-out on the I30t's... which would be the better buy?

I would go with the I30T, it has the 00VI in it. Plus 50k miles less than the Max.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is 00VI?

depends on how well they were taken care of, i am leaning towards the max considering they were both taken care of, the 00vi s the intake manifold but this is your DD not a race car. unless you really want the extra features in the I30 and the max is cloth no bose no climate control ect. for me its about price point talk the max down another 500 and its worth it! i just bought mine about 3 months ago its 98 se all options had 142k 3200.

The max is fully loaded - leather and all options - including intact and working bose...

I will try to drive them both today, and get a better feel for each car...

As for the oovi intake - what is the difference versus the intake in the max?

That is too much money for max. Should pay like 2500 bucks, thats it. But inflation and street vaule is a bish.....

I would keep lookin or go for the i30t which is much better deal.

+1
I30 would be a much better deal, 00vi makes it more efficient, and it looks a lot nicer imo.
The Max would cost less, but I would personally be more interested in the best deal rather than the lowest price.

PS: Check the Max for oil leaks after 5 minutes on the highway. Could be serious headaches later.
