Door speakers will be the end of me..

Alright, so here's the deal. I'm pretty good at installing systems and such, I've done mine, my friends, their friends, etc.

But this is the first time I've encountered this problem. I junked all 4 stock speakers in my 97 project because they're trash. Ordered 4 new kenwoods to go throughout the car running off of an amp, but what I was wondering is how I'm going to wire the speakers from the amp to the doors.

I'm guessing that you have to remove the rubber grommet in the doors and run wires through it that way, and that would probably be the best way to get speaker wire to the doors.

I've heard the methods of the "coat hanger" and basically fishing it through the hole in which the rubber door grommet protects. I was wondering if anyone has done anything similar to their maxima's and was wondering if there were any tips as to how to do it.

Thanks-Spence'

That's the best way or you could use the factory wiring and splice the wires at the back of the head unit and run them to the amp.

Buy a Metra Wiring Harness? Just use existing signal wires (assuming this vehicle had bose)(btw my bose kicks your Kenwood's ***)

This max did not have bose.

But the other twist in the story is that the passenger side door that I bought was equipped with bose, so no signal would be recieved from the head unit due to there being 2 connectors for bose, and only being one in my car.

Just do what you mentioned, go through the grommets, its what I did and I think its the cleanest install you can possibly get without using the stock wire, however you'll get fresh wire in this case

Did someone mention BLOSE???

U can run the wire from the amp to the rear speakers easily through the trunk.

THe front speakers, I wd run the wires to the back of the HU and use the existing wires.

I typically 'push' the wire through the grommet from the door side - with the kick panel removed, the wire eventually lands on the floor board, from where you can tuck it through the dash to the center console.

Only one car yet that I couldn't do that with, but I was able to 'tape' my new wire to the old and pull it to the center...

Definitely helpful, I'll give it a try.

And as for everyone arguing about which speakers are better, I'm personally a JL kinda guy. Though working part time and being a full time student allows me to not buy their expensive speakers.

But as for my 5th gen, I kept the stock bose in the doors, then built two custom boxes so when you fold the rear seat down it reveals 2 kicker 6.5 coxials, 2 kicker 5.5 components, and 2 kicker crossovers, powered by a 400 watt alpine amp. It helps even out the highs/mids from the 2000 watts of bass

But its all about preference, not bashing on anyone's favorite brand of speakers. If you like it, go for it. Music ftw..

My stock speakers work fine.

Quality could improve, though.

Just pulled out the grommets and basically fished the wire through today. Worked like a charm. Ran the wire through the carpet back to the trunk and I'm good to go. Thanks for you're help everyone.

My BOSE head unit went out and when I replaced it I had to do the speakers as well. I just used the existing wiring and it was easy enough. The antenna adapter or head unit I got is crap though as I can't get radio stations for anything... ohh well that's what the AUX plug is for.

I cheated and nicked a hole on the grommet on both sides, ran the wire through naked, then put a heatshrink tube over it, shrunk it down, zip tied it to the bundle.

Looks factory and was a lot easier than getting it inside the existing tube.
