Electronic Suspension?

What is this? How can I tell if I have this or not?

The reason I ask, is I am looking at www.cskauto.com to find a replacement steering rack and there are two versions.

I have a '96 I30T Automatic.

Thanks,

Stan

Bump to top.

Anyone can tell me what the difference is between the two steering racks (w/ECS and w/o ECS).

there were models of the a32 (the i30 body style) offered elsewhere in the word with electronic suspension. also i think the q45 had and active elecronic suspension.

I dont know of any a32 in the US with elec. suspension. YOU WOULD NEED THE non elec. model.

Hi HomerMAC, yes, you are right. I contacted a buddy of mine over on the offroad nissan forums and he mentioned about that as well. But he recommended me to confirm with the local Infiniti dealer.

I called the local Infiniti dealer this afternoon, and they said the exact same thing you said as well. Q45 is the only one with that active suspension.

Thanks for your confirmation.

Changes the dampening of the shocks. Similar to Toyota TEMS or Tein EDMS.

Ditto, BUT it also did something else.... it stiffened up your steering.
The rack with the electronic suspension has a soleniod that can vary the fluid running through it and thus effectivly decreasem/increase steering tension..

You can put that kind of rack on your car by the way. Im planning on this..

there was another member who did it. he had it wired to a dial switch.

just a matter of time needed to take the rack out... but this should become easier with my latest engine work.

That makes sense. The steering rack is so much more expensive for the model with electronic suspension.
