Estimated Half shaft replacement cost

CV Boot on passenger side is torn and needs replacing badly. Considered a universal boot but its doubtful. I dont think im gonna try the axle myself, but what are some of your experiences regarding prices at shops?

$50 labor is max i would pay.

its very easy to do yourself as well. new axle is about $60 at autozone after core, plus an hour of your time.

wow, for $50 I would let a pro do it. In San Diego a local mechanic told me $180 per side in parts and labor.

We don't have that problem in 5th Gen Auto's. I just replaced mine a month or two ago and it took about 20-25 mins total. No fluid leaked either.

the $140 - $180 seem about right. The exact quote slips my mind but NTB wanted like around $275 for one side and almost 400 for both

I'm about to do my axle also. How much oil do you think the 6MT needs after it leaks approximately? I'm picking up some oil today and I don't want to buy more than a quart if I don't have to (that sh*t's expensive)

The exact volume should be in your owner's manual.

I hope that the price is for a new axle, and not just the boot, that would be a rip off, for that amount you can replace both of your axles and the amount of fluid that might leak, I have replaced a few on other cars and not even a drop!
