Pandora in my Maxima

I just recently became an Android convert (Samsung Captivate) after spending years using Windows Mobile phones. After tinkering around a bit with my phone while in my car, I discovered that I could play music from Pandora using their Android app over bluetooth audio. Even better, I could play, pause, skip, and repeat with the car's controls. Some of you may have known all of this already but for those who did not, I just had to share. Of course, the same functionality extends to the standard music player on the phone for people who keep music on their phones.

I love Pandora.. I have an Iphone and bought a tilt / swivel mount that attaches to the left pillar. Then i used the Iphone audio / video / power cable to attach it to the RCA's in the console. I think it sounds better than sat radio and is free!

Also did the radio / video mod and can watch PM4 movies from my Iphone to the monitor at any time. Total cost is about $150 and 3 hours of work.

These new phone are great!

I'm not able to control Pandora or iPod with the steering wheels controls with my iPhone... Might be fixed if I got the update on the nav, possibly, just need patience to deal with the dealership.

What surprises me is the fact that Pandora does not drop out while I'm driving the car. I'm loving it.

Yea, Pandora is a app. Also, Slacker radio is good too. I use both and stream through my bluetooth.

Go into settings on the phone go to wireless and network, bluetooth settings. Scan for devices. It should find your bluetooth. Sometimes it ask's for a passkey which is usually 0000. (this is all through the phone) After your connected open pandora and it should be coming through your speakers. Once your connected all your phonecalls and music will be through the deck. (that is if your car is equipped with bluetooth?)

This how I do it on my Galaxy S. My wife has a blackberry. But, I stream with that also. You have to connect. It should work dude!?!

Also, the car needs to be on. I know some of this may be like, "no s**t!" But, I just want to make sure I cover all the steps.

my phone is already hooked up to the car and when i play pandora it only plays through the phone. Do you have navi on your car? does that even matter

The only other thing I can think of is that it's paired but not connected. It doesn't matter if you have navi or not. Its bluetooth, completely separate thing. Maybe, the factory bluetooth doesn't support steaming music?

I would imagine that it is all the same!?! You just have to pair up and open pandora.

if you have the ''S'' and not ''SV'' it will not work the ''S'' because they only made it to work for phone calls not streaming music

I use Pandora and Slacker radio.Works very well. The only BT streaming issues I have run into is using the music that is stored to the phone. When I listen to the music from the phone and change track with the steering wheel its like stuck on random. It will just select whatever song it wants.Very annoying.Could be a android comunication issue though.

Yup, you need to have the Tech package. Also, you must enable bluetooth audio on the connected device in the bluetooth settings menu on the car.

I would've been posted this long ago but I was under the ASSumption that everyone already knew about our cars with the bluetooth features and using the Android and IPhones as Auxillary devices.

I never go anywhere without connecting my phone through BT to listen to Pandora or to IHeart Radio.

I'm glad to see that I could help turn a couple of people on to this great feature. These cars are so feature-rich when loaded that you can easily become spoiled. I rented a Mustang with MS Sync last week. After playing around with the system for a while, I could not believe how non-intuitive it was. It did pair with my phone eventually but making calls was not as smooth a process as I would have liked. Maybe the lack of a touchscreen hampered my experience. Regardless, I think Nissan did a great job with the infotainment system that comes with the Tech package. The only thing missing in my mind is the capability to transfer MP3s to the internal hard drive. In the end, that is a minor quibble for me.

Interesting, I can't find the feature enabling BT audio as an aux device on my 09. If anyone has this working on an 09, I sure would appreciate the procedure.

I went out and played with mine. No option there either. 09 SV sport/tech.

I think it's a 2010 feature.

I believe (could be mistaken too) that you have to have a Technology package on your Max. BT streaming should be in your package as one of the options. Besides on my Blackberry I had to go to Pandora's opions and select "available via Bluetooth" (or something like this) in order for it to be streamed via my speakers.

I have the SV Sport AND tech package, but it's not there. This must be one of the new features of the 10's. I guess they added a USB port and took away the CF drive too.

Ok, just checked my original brochure with options listed for the 09. It's not listed as an option even. Oh well, too bad for us early adopters.

Once my sat radio stopped being free I have just been using Internet radio off my phone. With multitasking ability of new phones as soon as I start the car it starts to play pandora from my phone without having to manually start anything. You can make recieve a phone call through the BT and when it hangs up the music picks right back up. Pandora will not play through the USB though. I guess that is strictly for songs already on the device.

My wife has a ford focus and even that car has streaming BT audio and it's an '08.

Yes Bluetooth audio streaming is on the new 2010-2011 models not the 2009. I noticed it was a new feature. People with the 2009 can still stream pandora or their mp3s through the iPhone hookup like I am now

According to other 2009 owners, bluetooth streaming is not available on the 2009 Maximas at all.

Pandora with streaming audio is very nice. It makes keeping the SAT package a hard decision. When my 3 months trial is over, I'll miss the weather reports.

Over the past two generations, Nissan has proven that they are not scared to make slight interior tweaks during the second model year of a generation. However, the change they made to the infotainment system in the 2010 models was more significant than just about anyone would have bet on.
