GUYS, PLEASE HELP! Brake Pad Installation issues with squeal clips and shims (w/pic)

Some questions for you guys...

Installing pads on a 2002 Max and have run into some trouble (as this setup has some peculiar additions compared to a typical setup). First, all 4 replacement pads (Akebono) have spring shims on all 4 pads (normally just on two, one for the inside only) and I am left to wonder, does the spring shim seat in the top slot or the bottoms slot of the pad holder? I would think the top slot. And the second question and most important... how in the world are you supposed to connect the anti-rattle springs to the pads on this setup (the weird record player needle looking things at the top of the pad holder)? Thanks.

Very hard to tell by your photo. Most pads today have shims attached to both inner and outer. The anti squeal compound really doesn't belong all over the place, a little on the back of the pad. Don't quit your day job. Brakes are an important item. You should really have someone look in person at this before heading near a schoolyard.
