well i doubt anyone remembers this, but about 3 or 4weeks ago i posted a thread asking how fast the new Z-71/silverados were and everyone said it would be pretty even. wrong! this punk kid goes to my school and has a 99' Z-71 with flowmasters (of course) headers and a chip (dunno what kind). i have a 95 se 5spd with intake and thats it. first we did it at a light and both got pretty good launches. i had about a car about half way through 2nd then probably 2 cars by the end of 3rd then we stopped because he said he couldn't go past 105. then we went from a roll at about 30 mph this time i stomped him and at the end of 3rd i had him by at least 3 cars. needless to say, he doen't talk **** about my "4 door" anymore and neither do his honda friends.

i was going dwn I-70 minding my own business when this big a$$ f-150 extended cab (with 4 doors) flys past me hauling major ****. so i speed up and catch him then flyby and slowdown. we go at it a few times from about 70 to 115 or so and every time i just walk on by. of corse if it was a lightning it would have been a different story...

I remember that thread. I also remember myself telling you that you would kick his a$$. Those truck can't hang, especially with a 95 5spd Max. Good Kills.

u know, i've been doing some research on lightnings ever since my friend got one and i wouldn't mind getting one in the next couple of years, they really aren't that expensive.

I completely stomped a 2K1 Z71 with the biggest engine… 290 HP or something. Buddy at work talking smack, I didn’t even think it’d be close- it wasn’t. 0-80 or so on an on-ramp. Unfortunately I let him go first, had to hit the brakes three times so I didn’t go up his rear-end.

That was with my Auto. He won’t race my 5 speed.

Well, about 34k after taxes and all. But you gotta remember they are big V-8's and only get like 12mpg. The insurance is also gonna be expensive. But the mixture of the deep grumble and supercharger whine on that thing is priceless.

 

i know, my buddy has one but if i ever got one, it wouldn't be for quite awhile.

I guess just think of it this way: Alot of cars on the road wish they had the quality/speed of a Maxima. We might not be as fortunate as a Lightning owner, but we still got pretty sweet cars.

I am paying nothing for my Lightning. My friend pays around 2-3 grand a year.

yes it's a black 2001, its a great truck but those tails still bother me .man my friend is a punk, he won't even race it. he wants to "take cae of it and baby it" BLAH!
