How to add turnsignals to miror
Hi all,
So this afternoon I was bored, so I decided to add turnsignals to my mirrors. The first step in my process was to buy some flat laying amber led strips from autozone.

Then I removed both mirrors from the car.

next, remove the tape that is around the rubber barrier.

then remove the three screws the hold the mirror together.

next, drill a small hole(just big enough for the wires) in the bottom of the mirror.

Now fish the wires through that hole and under the mirror

then run the wires through the rubber barrier. and reapply the electrical tape.

then, solder a six led strip to the wires and apply silicone and shrink tube.

Apply the strip to the bottom of the mirror.

Install back onto the car and wire to a turnsignal fed of your choice.

I have not wired them in yet due to it started to rain on me. but this is a nice preview of how they will look.

I actually really like this setup.
It's very stealthy, and you won't be able to see the LEDs unless you're right up on the car.
Which is nice, IMO, because I can't stand the blinkers that are on the outer plastic of the mirrors. I think it looks cheap.

+1. lol. I was expecting to see the strips stuck to the outside of the mirror with a trail of wires leading back into the cabin. Nice job.
to get them to stay I cleaned the mirror with alcohol and also applied a dab of supper glue at the ends. I mounted them to the bottom of the housing right under the mirror.
looks good! im gonna do this! except i think im gonna put them at the outermost place on the inside of the cowlings, sunk back behind the mirror so i cant see them inside

Most of the turn signal leds that I've seen on the side view mirrors are on the back side, and if the people inside the car see the light blinking it's very minimal. Most are also suppose to be directed to allow oncoming traffic to see them as well. I know that there are some that are actually embedded in the glass and you see them in plain view, but I don't think they're as bright as the ones you've installed. I guess what I'm trying to say is that, try not to let the cool factor/brightness distract you from actually looking in the mirror or turning your head to make sure the coast is clear before you proceed.
Very nice none the less. An OG member, MaximaPolak put individual leds underneath so it can been seen almost in a 360* manner.
btw, not sure if this has been mentioned but get rid of that damn pinstripe!

If your were to look at what ford does in there F-150's. they are almost exactly what i have done, except that they are not as stealthy when not in use.
and its amazing that that other kid was beaten with a stick for doing these, and members are praising this set up years later for something similar...woooow.
doesnt look bad in my opinion. dont know if id go through the hassle :/ im lazy lol.
