dang my 4th gen steering feels loose again!

I had an Oldsmobile Alero rental, and the steering felt kinda tight. I was like you gotta be kidding, this steering is better than my Max too? Problem was the low tire pressure lamp came on and the car felt weird in a snowstorm (was ok when dry pavement). The next day I looked and the inside left rear was bald which explained the instability on the snow. Then I got a Grand Am which I admit had kinda vague steering.

Did Maxima get it right for 2k2 or is it similar to 2k? What happened to the OT board?

From what I have heard, the Alero is a great handling car. Might even be better than the Maxima. Old's current sedan linup isn't bad.

But yeah, the 4th gen does have loose steering...way overboosted.

I dunno, I've been in an Alero, and it feels like its gonna tip over on some turns, but yeah, my car has eibachs though I agree, the maxi styeering is loose felling at highway speeds, feels sorta 'floaty', but this problem has been discussed before, something about some kind of suppart arm that needed adjustment.

just curious

can the line for the power steering have a valve placed in it, and turn it partially off to provide less power boost ?

It's bizarre it always comes down to $$$, train station, airport, boss hands you the donation card for a manditory % of your salary and notes everyone who doesn't turn it back in. As John Lennon once said,

"you ask me for a contribution well you know...."

Sorry, but the Maxima suspension sucks...

I have Sprints and it is still floaty and highway speeds. I will agree there are many thing one can do to fix this, but for a stock car it could never TOUCH my brother's stock '95 Accord V6 in the handling department. Speed is another story...

What year 4th gens do you guys have?

I have a 97 GXE and the steering is REALLY loose, like you guys all complain about.

However, in my 99 SE the steering is much, much, much better. Almost like a totally different car.

the SE does have a stiffer suspension so maybe thats why the steering feels different

Nah, both have aftermarket springs, etc. The wheel on the SE feels heavier, less "boosted" if you will.
