Looking for How to on installing the PR CAI

The current How To is missing many of the pictures and is not very helpful.

I ordered my CAI and am looking to install it this week, i just need some guidance. I have a general idea of how to install it.

It's pretty self explanatory. The only part you should need help with is the 3" hole you will need to drill.

Here is a template for the CAI. Scroll to the bottom http://www.cardomain.com/ride/711695/1996-nissan-maxima

Ok, that template helps alot, I was just gonna be trying to line up the pipe and cutting a hole. So a 3 inch hole is all id need? Would it be bad if I used a 3.5 inch bit?

Probably. I know that mine is like 3 inches and if there was any wiggle room it would all the pipe to flex, and possibly come loose from a coupler

I'd drill a 3.25" hole at most and put some type of rubber around the hole to keep the pipe from moving.

I used a vacuum hose, slit it in half, and wrapped the edge of the hole. Like so

i will try to get a pic of mine. My lower pipe is angled ( I think the hole is 3 1/4)
It doesnt go anywhere with the faux "gasket". Be sure to keep a check on the coupler clamps. Mine keep coming loose (seriously IDK why, I torque them down with a ratchet and still come loose )

still wont be as cold as in the fender...heat shields do wrk but to an extent if the filter component is still in breathing distance of the motor itself

I've had both set ups and low end was definitely gone with the SRI, even with the heatshield.

haha, well.... If you really want some pics of me....

As for the install pics, I'll see what happens, I was originally going to install it myself, but 321VQ35MAX is a mechanic at the Toyota dealer near my house, I'm having him look at my exhaust b/c i think I broke a bracket and I'm going to have him install the intake while hes with the car.

Thanks, I remember joining a year ago. Never thought my car would be lowered and look/sound the way it is now. These forums and it's members are what makes being a car enthusiast fun. You can always ask a question and be provided with an answer.

They are. OP either got one from Cattman (doubt it lol), got one in the classifieds or got the Bomz knock off from eBay.

Ding ding, I got the replica ebay one haha. Its 50 bucks for the piping with shipping. All i need to buy is a better filter, aka K&N or the one from the Cattman intake.

Get an Amsoil or Apexi dry flow instead.

I got tired of having to oil the filter every time I cleaned it and having to worry about over oiling it.

Dry flows don't have to be oiled and flow just as well.

eBay knock off is the same thing, just get and use the money you saved on a better filter.
