radiant silver, white, black or dark blue. I wouldn't mind mystic jade or ocean blue.

the crimson red, dirty gray and slate gray are nasty.

I agree. I love it when people ask, "What color is that?"

He had it about a week, just long enough to know this is absolutely the car he wants. But his search is now back to square one, and he is understandably a little frustrated.

BBmaxi - Hang tough, buddy. There is a Maxima out there for you somewhere. It will be worth the wait.

keep in mind dark colors are a pain to keep clean and scratches stick out like a sore thumb so be prepared to take care of it.

There are 220 sub 24k 2009-10 Maximas listed in Edmunds used

Some will likely be in driving distance for you. It's a long link but will show you the 220 Maximas.

I have used Autotrader before in the past with great results, mostly as a seller. I did a quick search for 2009-2010 Maximas. Not knowing your zip code, I used mine and set the distance to any. I found 2,030 Maximas to choose from. I would say that would get you started on your quest!!!

Also remember that a one way plane ticket can be fairly cheep to go and pick up a car somewhere else. If say you live in the Cali, and you find a max in say Texas for $2,000 less, then a one way ticket at even 500 bucks would save you $1,500!!! Just keep that in mind.

Let us know what you end up with, but there are a lot of cars to be found. And sometimes the right dealer will look for them, and trade with other dealers for you!!

Also have you checked out carmax? I have never used them, but I have heard good things. However I have also heard that most of their cars are "old" rentals. I personally would never buy a used rental car. Thats just me though

With distance set to any, we should get the same results.

The search also included mileage under 30k and price under 24k which should be negotiable in most cases. If I were looking, I would expect to get a clean carfax certified Maxima for about 22k with less than 24k on it. It would be an S mostly because we much prefer the plush cloth seats in our old age and do not need Nav and the bells and whistles.

I have a trade in to deal with so it makes things little more complicated.

but ya there are 09's with 40k miles that go for 19k and they can't give it away. I think they going to drop to 18k (17,900) before they sell. It's weird, I look at car prices like stocks now haha.

Glad you're keeping at it - you'll find the Max of your dreams soon enough.

If you can hang tight over the next few months I'm sure you'll start to see some 2010's with some real nice pricing. For me it was most important to find one under warranty so any problems I came across would be covered no questions asked.

One thing to note is if you buy a car from a dealership far away it could be difficult to resolve issues with them if you find any. I bought from a dealership that was 1.5 hours away and that is enough of a pain trust me. I've had to go back 4 times for random things...

No biggie just sell your car! Like I said before I have used autotrader, twice now and got way way way more then any dealer would have given me for a trade in. I also sold both cars within 3 days of posting my car.

How long is everyone planning on keeping their 7th Gen Maxima? Would you trade it in if they came out with a Diesel Maxima or other type of 8th Gen?

Curious if this car is worth hanging on to for ~5 years and then trading in, if it will retain enough value. Seems like if everything is still working on it in 5 years it should have a nice resale value in my opinion.

I always trade my car in on the first year of each new Maxima generation. I have used my dealer's same internet manager in purchasing my 2000 SE, 2004 SL and 2009 SV with Premium. She always gives me a great price on my trade-in, because they are always in perfect condition, with fairly low mileage, and all recommended maintenance having been done by that dealer. She can do that because she resells them as 'certified' at a price above the one listed in Bluebook.

For instance, she gave me $15,000 two years ago for my 2004 SL with 45K miles. That was over half what I paid her for that car five years earlier.
