if i get on it hard it starts to miss but only in 2nd 3rd by that time i stop but 1st goes good soon is i hit 2nd it starts to miss around 3-7krpm same thing for 3rd b that time i shut it down. new plugs coil new ks no codes but the dame p1320 for the new coil will that make the car miss under hard load

 

Possibly the maf sensor could be going out.

 

Clean TB and MAF. Last time u replaced plugs?

 

just replaced like 100 miles ago ngk all clean them and see if that helps thanx for info

A miss under load is a weak spark. A weak coil produces a cold spark that gets blown out under a load. Almost 100% of the time a coil is the cause of a misfire "under load".

CEL on yet? Check for any pending codes. You should see a misfire code, and if your lucky the code for the cylinder it's from. Change the coil pack on that cylinder.

The 99's are notorious for bad coils.

 

i changed coil other day no codes pop up i cleaned every thing every 1 told me it help out with the poping but it still feels sluggish from 3-5500rpm than vtech kicks in to 7200 rpm lol im going to just change all coils and see if that helps

 

You could also just change the coil, which is the bottom part of the coil pack. Its like $20 bucks. I had a misfire a loonnngg time ago and it was because the little spring inside the coil pack was burnt and almost black so I put a fresh one on that is nice and shiny and it helped save me money from having to buy an entire coil pack.

Yep! But pull out the coil first to see if it actually is burnt before you waste 20 bucks only to have to buy a coilpack!

The bottom stick part just pops right off and you will need to pull hard but carefully!!

Oh sorry to hear. For some reason I've heard that 99 Maximas had problems with faulty coil packs not sure what is wrong with them exactly though.

 

Your refering to the coil BOOT. You should be able to pick them up at your local NAPA for $11.19. Depending on which side it is, the part numbers are 702439 or 702440.

 

jus replace coil pack #3

 

How do you know its coil #3, it could be random misfiring but it cant pickup where so I suggest you replace front row and see if there any any changes, and then a back row.

 

this^^ Or move the coil from number 3 cylinder to a different cylinder and see if the miss changes sylinders. Often times what I do to isolate which cylinder is unlug one coil at a time while the car is running. If it makes it worse then that's not the problem, if no change then you have a problem with that cylinder.

 

OP says he got a CEL for misfire cyl #3.

I think this is a godsend. At least he got a code so he knows how to proceed.
Its worse when there is no CEL. Then u jus grasping for straws

 

i had a code for cylinder # 5 so i fixed that coil and i still had missing under load than all of a sudden this dam code for # 3 comes up i guess they are all going bad at once

 

hit the JY, see if you can get them used.

Replace them all man and jus be done with it.

Its the boot plus the coil. I tried looking for the boot alone and none of the stores I look at carried just the BOOT it includes the stem, coil, and boot.

I wish I didn't throw my old ones away so I can show people what I mean. The little spring/coil inside the stem that carries the voltage sometimes gets burnt/black and that causes it to not work.

I had similar problems too and almost bought a coil pack for like 100 something dollars but decided to take a leap of faith with just changing the bottom and what-cha-know! It worked.

Reading all of the post and advice giving you have the same problem I had last summer... the performance was awful and I did all that was advised here... But the one thing I didn't see that you have done or was asked.

What fuel grade are you using? and how long? If using the lowest grade. BAD, really BAD Idea. Some say they don't have a problem with use low grade and some do.

Me it was a problem. My fix was 2 full tanks of 93 octane a bottle of injector cleaner for each tank full, cleaning the throttle body by taking it off and cleaning the entire body front and rear. By the 1/4 tank of the second tank she was back running harder then ever.

Then just to see if this was actually a issue with low grade fuel I tried another tank of low grade, nothing happen but some lost of power but by the second tank I was getting a miss again.

Went back to 93 octane and no miss. So this is a easier fix then running around trying to find coils that atleast should throw a code by now.

 

i use shell v-power all the time but 1 time i had to use some mobile and thats when **** started to happen but that was a few weeks ago and i only put 15 bucks of mobile in

 

I have some. How many do you want? front or rear? PM me if you are serious.

 

That could have been some contaminated gas from mobile which may have clog up one or more injectors and your fuel filter. believe it or not this happen to often... that's why I only purchase from update fuel station and yes Shell is a favorite, Love V-Power and Exxon as an alternative.

When pumping fuel you should not smell a heavy odor of vapors, never get fuel when a tanker is refilling. reason most order station under ground tanks that are contaminated this will stir up the particles that are at the bottom of the tank. If you have a favorite station you can find out when there fill up times whether early morning or late evening.

If this is not your problem and the coils still don't fix the problem... check your connector leading to the coils, MAF, etc. sometimes this is over look, there could be a bad connection. Strange part is you still haven't thrown any codes?

 

Having a misfire problem as well . Just stated using 89 over 93 because fuel is 350 a gallon at this point. i have a cylinder 2 misfire now, I've tested this theory by unplugging the injectors one by one. Got a box of coils at home. and a couple injectors. I'll let you no what ends up happening
