Can I put a 6spd in a 2k1 AE GLE?

#1 on my list of things to do when I get my car is a tranny swap. I know I could just get a 5spd from another 5th gen SE, but I've been hearin a lot about how great the 2k2's are. I know it's got more hp than me so it won't be exactly the same, but that 6spd sounds SO nice. Do you think I could go buy the 6spd tranny from courtasy nissan and then have it fabbed to fit into the GLE I'll be gettin.

I have some conections through courtasy nissan and I can probably have some strings pulled to get it if it's gonna be a bit of trouble. But I'm not sure if they even have spare 6spd trannies out there.

If I can't get a 6spd, how much would it cost to have a tranny built for me? What should I get?

I could have sworn the AE came in GLE and SE. Oh well. My mistake. Then it's just a 2k1 GLE.

I thought that sounded wrong for some reason.

I knew that the 6speed did not fit in our cars (4th gen) from the 2K1. But what do they change in the 5th gen that it still does not fit?

Don’t get the GLE.

I think the tranny swap is a lot tougher than you think it’ll be…. Sounds really tough, and you’ll have to replace your ECU and wiring harness, I think.

You should do the smart thing and find a 5-speed, since it doesn’t sound like you’ve bought this GLE yet. If you have already bought it, see what kind of hit you’ll take trading for a 5-speed SE.

I regretted my auto every day for 5 months, finally traded for a 5-speed. I got lucky on the deal, though…

Hey, I never thought of trading it. That may actually work out pretty nicely. I'd never get another automagic, but my friend's offering me his GLE for $5k. That's almost too good to beleave, but it's true. It's in great condition, so I can probably get a nice 2k or 2k1 SE in similiar condition. If not, what car could I trade it in for that's got a lot of power and is relatively new?

i would trade for a 5spd SE .. a 2k 5spd SE .. you shouldn't loose any value on that.. provided the car is in great condition..

other cars.. hmm.. a 2k1 GLE would be around 20k .. you could get a 93 SupraTT (winter areas), 3rd Gen rx7 (need a beater car and will be in the shop), 300ZXTT (sweet car), WRX..

i know you said relatively new.. but the first 3 cars are GREAT cars in that price range..

My friend would personally beat the hell out of me if I went and traded the car he sold me for a supra. He's gettin a supra, and he had the choice of sellin the max to help pay for one, or sellin it to me for 1/4 the value. He chose to be nice and sell it to me. I don't think he would mind too much if I traded it for another max or even an rx-7 (old or not, that cars too good to turn down), but a supra would be out of the question. Although I want one, I don't want to do it that way. He'd give me so much **** about it, it's not worth it.

especially when he sells it to you for 5k.. you trade it in.. you still have money left over mods and your supra is faster than his

wow.

Jeezus… 5K!!!! Did you swallow?

(sorry, couldn’t help myself)

If you’re getting it for 5K and don’t want to **** off your friend, spend another 3-4K and get a supercharger and a VB mod. You won’t miss the 5-speed much then.
