clean up the stickies?
clean up the stickies?
I would have only msg'd the moderators but thought it important to hear everyone's opinion.
I would be more than happy to spend countless hours in organizing the plethora of information if allowed. (Even creating a new 'mirror' thread and having it put up for critique and approval.) Also keep in mind it would not be hard to give credit to each person's contribution when links would not be apropriate. After summarizing, reformatting, or moving the info their name could be put at the bottom. IE “-information provided by [name here] on [date here]-”
1) Some of the sticky titles do not represent the information contained. (I think people would have a hard time knowing where to start.)
2) When you read the sticky threads, most come across as hectic and unorganized. (Having a standard format would make them much more 'readable'. The “HowTo's: 4th Generation Maxima “ section is a perfect example of what I am thinking of!)”
3) An 'interactive' troubleshooting guide would be WAY helpful. A basic format for tech questions could also be provided. (So many people that post here do not even know how to organize their ideas much less post the right info.)
4) A consolidation of information is in order. (A lot of time has passed and putting all the information together would be a huge step toward accomplishing most of these ideas.)
So what do you think?

Seeing as I was the one who re-did the HowTo, by all means do it for the others, but be prepared to find a LOT of broken links. It's not as easy as it seems.
I'm glad that my HowTo re-org is still getting hits though.

I thought about it many times, even started it a few times. It would take me weeks to go through all the information and do it right. It is way too much work. Luckily the search works and I have been more lenient on what threads I close
It is doable but IMO, I think we need to localize some of the pics and HowTo's to the forum somehow so we don't have to worry too much about broken links. Is there a way to resolve this Kev?
As for the broken links, we need someone to host the old sites pretty much. web.archive does a good job, i find most of the dead links on there.
i'd say split the duty between moderators/admins to get it done..because i have seen teh same issue/problem in the 5th gen subforum as well. but the search function works ok. just sucks that when you do search and all you find in teh threads is 'search noob' with no information linked in that thread to help the 'noob' or links that dont work
