Well, I've had my 97 Jetta TDI for a little over a year now and have loved it. It's driven me from Tennessee to Maryland on 1 tank of gas and never let me down.

161,xxx miles, 5 speed

I replaced the timing belt along with all associated belts / gaskets / water pump probably 2,000 miles ago.

5,000 miles ago I cleaned the intake manifold out and replaced the suspension with PartsPlace assembled 1" lowering kit. Near this time I replaced all the tires and did a transmission flush as well.

The car could use some love cosmetically but mechanically it's been great. I recently moved 3 miles from the Metro station and have realized that the need for a TDI isn't there and I miss having power at my finger tips and don't care to throw a ton of upgrades into the car.

I'm looking for a clean trade or, depending on the trade, willing to put some money down. I don't really care what make / model the trade is for.

I'm in the process of getting some pictures (the weather has been so bad around here I haven't been able to get any "clean" shots).

The car is black with some fade on the trunk lid, a little on the roof. The side molding is all still in tact but could be reapplied. The previous owner ripped the Jetta badge off the trunk lid and took some paint with it. It is sitting on Le Castellets that could be resurfaced.

If you have any questions feel free to ask or throw an offer out there. I'm looking primarily for reliability at this point and don't want to get the short end of any deal (though I also don't want to give anyone that end either).

P.S This is a California car. It has no signs of rusting in the engine bay and compared to my friends car which is native to this area my engine bay looks 10 years newer.
