Came across something very funny.
Came across something very funny.
So im google-ing knock sensor and this pops up. Without me even stating what my car was.

Kinda sad. My knock sensor has been bad for about 2 years the thing is literally cracked in half however it doesnt throw a code. If i throw a code for some thing else it will say i have 2 codes but however when the problem is fixed it doesnt throw a code for just the knock sensor. Kind of weird. Anyone else experience this?

Alot of codes will set off a ghost KS code when the KS is fine. A bad KS will not trigger a light, but will trigger a code.
There are two possibilities:
1. you are relying on the CEL to tell you there is a KS problem, and there is.
2. Ghost codes are leading you to believe there is a KS problem, and there is not.
Are you checking for codes after fixing the other issues?
In regards to Google, If you have searched for much "nissan maxima" related stuff in the past, google will put 2 and 2 together and include
"knock sensor nissan maxima".

2. Not sure
And yeah that might be what happened..
Hi, new member here and I have some information on having the knock sensor code set without the SES light on.
Nissan decided to have the ECU put the knock sensor code into memory when engine knock was detected within the last few drive cycles. They chose to do this because most code readers only read the section of the diagnostic system which gives trouble codes. This makes it easier to diagnose a knocking condition without access to a CONSULT. They've been this way ever since Nissan implemented OBDII that I know of, and possibly earlier.

You are probably using a newer browser that allows Google to use search suggestions based on your previous searches. If you've searched "maxima" before then it may connect maxima and knock sensor together.
