In Drive with brakes and Still pulling

So when i am stopped at a light or in traffic, the car still has some pull in it, like i am braking and stepping on the gas. The rpm stays right above 1000 rpm and more brake pressure is needed. It feels like the torque converter is on load which can't be a good thing. It goes away sometimes, like a sticky throttle which it wasn't.
I have cleaned the throttle body and MAF, new EGR, and new hoses. What can be causing me to idle so high? even in Drive. When i shift into park or neutral it idles around 1800 rpm. Can it be my IAC? it was cleaned last year and didnt seem that dirty either. Noob question, is there a slave cylinder in an automatic?

i had an issue like this with a car back in the day, turned out to be the fuel pump - probably not the issue in this case though

Not entirely sure but whatever controls the idle is probably malfunctioning (stuck open etc). There was also a post about this a while ago, make sure the throttle cable has some slack in it too so that its not still pulling when you let off the gas.

yea i would look at IACV or something of that nature.. possibly IACV + TPS. 3G's are MAF-based not MAP-based so a vac leak wouldn't affect the engine same way as it does on, say, a Camry.

Automatic ve coolsun? Higher idle would say extra unmetered air getting into the air system. Does your idle stay steady or sweep?

yeah auto!, you don't know how much i adore an auto living in NYC.(well i didn't have a choice when my uncle sold this to me 4 years ago with 80k miles for a grand!)
Yeah my idle is steady, does not sweep, its just like stuck high reving when in park or netrual and a 1000 at D or R

Check your throttle cable both on top of the plenum and at the gas peddle. Look for and where the cable could get caught up on. Also make sure the cable routing is where it should be.

i dont think thats the prob, cause yesterday i checked that while i cleaned the throttle bottle and the butter fly was moving feely
But this happens sometimes, not a constant thing.

There is an adjuster screw on the idle air control valve.

Tell me about it I have to buy one as the previous owner fudged up my adjuster screw. That is on my to replace list.

The adjuster screw will only have an effect on the idle speed if the IACV is malfunctioning. If you do take it off check that coolant still flows through it, if it is blocked then the temp it is reading would be incorrect but generally this will only result in about 1500 idle. Also check your temperature sensor connector.

My car occasionally picks up stupidly high revs when I alternate between octane boosted fuel and normal premium, my guess is its an ecu compensating effect. Stops if I turn the car off and on again.
