EZ Pass and Factory Tint

I was just curious to find out, I just got my EZ Pass transponders and before I mount them on the front windshield I was hoping to find out if anyone who has them has put them under the factory tint on the front windshield if you have or did not have problems with the EZ Pass system picking up the transponder?

Reason I ask is, the factory tint on the Max comes down pretty far on the windshield and I don't want this white transmitter sticking out like a sore thumb from the outside. If I could put it under the factory tint it would be hidden but I want to make sure the EZ pass system will pick it up!

I have mine all the way up in the dark tint of my windshield where I think you are mentioning - where there is about 6" of tint from the roof down - never had any problems. Had it up there hidden on my old Altima as well. I know how you feel - it keeps it looking clean from the outside

Aren't those things using Radio signal, not infrared? If that's the case, anywhere behind the glass should be fine.

Your state should have a FAQ as well, that question has probably been asked many times I'm sure...

EZPass pretty much just requires is on the windshield and yes, they are RF - heck, it even picked up my tag when I had it in the glove compartment of an old 88 Corolla!

Thank you all for the help. Just wanted to make sure before I put the transponder on. This way it will be hidden under the tint from the outside!

No problems here. I have my EZPass mounted on the passenger side near the rear view mirror right up next to the headliner.

There are 2 types, the RFID decal type and the battery operated box. The box could probably go anywhere, not so sure about the RFID tag. I put my RFID tag on the windshield such that the mirror prevents me from at least having to look at it. But I think that puts it below the black part of the windshield.

The only cars I know that have problems are the Benz's. My boy keeps it stuck to his sunroof. I haven't had any problems so far with the Maxima.

If it's anything like the sun pass here in Florida it will work in the glovebox
