i have a 96 SE and i just put my stock 15s back on. ive had 17s on for the past 8 months. after i was all done i was walking toward my car and i noticed it was leaning to the driver's side. i thought it was just my eyes so i went and got a tape measure and measured the front, middle, and back of each side and the driver's side was about 1/2 inch lower than the passenger side. thinking it might have been my driveway making the difference i moved the car and got the same measures. i went inside and got a level and put it on my front bumper, my sunroof and on the spoiler and the car is definitely leaning to the driver's side. im PRETTY SURE it wasnt like this when my 17s were on the car so im thinking maybe the driver's side tires need some air but im not sure. also, in the past month or so ive noticed my suspension squeeks when i open or close my door or do anything to slighly rock the car. what do you think that is? although the a suspension problem seems like a logical answer i doubt thats it because im 95% sure the car wasnt like this before i put the 15s on. any ideas?

 

Low tire psi if you stored um they prob lost air. Or if you have coilovers possible they got knocked lose.

 

okay, well i just checked the PSI. im not sure how accurate my pressure guage is but looks like all the tires are low (the guage says 20 psi for all of them but they dont look THAT low). however, that means that none of the tires are lower than any others so that wouldnt account for the lean. i dont like this.

 

blown strut?

 

Pump up the tires 33 front and 29 rear COLD. Check the sidewall of each tire and make sure there all the same size. 215/55/16 or whatever your running. Then measure again.

 

The low psi don't surprise me tires loose air when the sit around. You could prob run 13psi and not really see a big diff fill um back up to the same all around it's a fwd car no reason to run them diff. A blown strut woun't cause a lean. This is interesting. Take it to another spot thats flat and check it there and see if it leans.

 

i hope not. would anything i did while changing the wheels cause my strut to go? the car didnt fall from the jack or anything. the thing that gets me is that it wasnt like this before and since all of the tires seem even i dont know what to think. maybe my driveway is sloped to one side but ive never noticed this before on the hundreds of other times ive looked at my car on the driveway.

 

Actually, on my 99, Nissan recommends the front be at 32 psi and the back be at 29 psi. is there any othere reasoning behind this other than a big *** engine up front and an empty trunk need different pressures to support them?

if i do the lean while im driving maybe it will balance the car out. i expected something more helpful out of you.

 

 

Did you drive it after putting the wheels back on? If not your tires havn't seated back into position. I am not sure if you know what I mean. When you jack a car up, the tire moves inward. When putting it back down, the tire stays inward till you roll it and it pushes back out and the strut will go down.

Drive it, then check.

 

well, i did move it to the other side of my driveway but im about to head out for the night right now so ill check it in the morning after i actually drive it somewhere.

 

now the car wont start. i'm in hell.

okay got it started. im not sure what it was. i hooked it up to my mom's car and eventually got it started. may have been the battery but it looks like another one of these:

Sounds like one of your springs popped out of its' cup when you had it jacked. Could be either side.

 

whatever was wrong, its fixed now. after driving it around last night it evened out. thanks for the help
