FS: 1997 Maxima SE - mechanic special - North NJ - BEST OFFER

Whats up guys. New to the forum... figure I'd much rather have an enthusiast pick this up rather then someone else. Regardless, here it is. For sale is a 1997 Nissan Maxima SE (auto) located in North NJ. The car was daily driven up until a couple of days ago when the transmission began to slip

We compiled what we think is a thorough list of the good and bad....

Some good about the car....

Tires have very good tread

Oil changes every 3000 miles and the car doesnt seem to burn or leak any oil

Exterior is decent... small scratches and dents but normal wear and tear for a 14 year old car

Motor starts right up

Interior in good shape

New front axles.

106k miles

The bad....

The transmission began to slip a couple of days ago.... the car only moves forward in Drive when giving it a significant amount of gas.

Last time it was looked at the mechanic suggested the water pump be changed.

The exhaust is broken/rusted and as a result the car failed inspection.

The car is leaking fluid... seems like power steering fluid though not 100% sure. It is NOT OIL though.

The Air conditioning does not work. Most likely needs a new compressor.

The speedometer sometimes stays at zero when driving, though recently the sensor was changed and the problem still happens from time to time.

Im selling this for my good friend who is terrible when it comes to online sales or getting back to people. (no gimmicks here, my emails come straight to my phone and I'll try to get back to you asap). Clean title in hand. Its been a decent car but he just doesnt have the money to fix it anymore. Perfect for someone who knows what they are doing and wants to make a profit or just wants a fixer upper. KBB value for the car in fair condition is 3260. BEST DECENT OFFER WILL BE CONSIDERED. Looking to sell asap because as of right now he has no means of transportation. Car will need to be towed from his house. NO SCAMMERS OR LOWBALLERS. Cash or certified bank check only.

$1100 OR BEST REASONABLE OFFER. REPAIR OR PART IT OUT! NEED IT GONE!!

If you have any questions or would like to set up a time to come see the car feel free to email me Salemme07@yahoo.com

VIN # JN1CA21D4VT869314

PICS!

im not bashing you, but for $2 grand anyone can get a decent properly running car. this car needs a tranny, has a 95 front end, needs wp, exhaust leaking, ac doesnt work, speedo doesnt work right, you will never get 2k for it, you should relist it at a better if your really looking to sell it, I go through these cars day and night so dont take this the wrong way, just pointing out to you that you might hold on to for a long time at this price

Not taken as a bashing at all. I appreciate the comments. He's open to offers but that was the price he named so thats what we went with. What would you consider to be a fair price? And yes we're serious about selling it... asap. Its sitting in his driveway and just taking up space!

With the right amount of time someone could make much more then 6 to 8 hundred by parting it out. I've been around the block when it comes to buying and selling cars too. Though I'm open to offers.

this is my point exactly, glad you got the point.

Keep in mind parting out cars is not every one thing to do, most cant even change their own engine oil

Time. If 10 - 15 people came to me today and called dibs on a part, then it would be easy. But parting out could take much longer then that, and my buddy needs to pick up something else asap. He has no car whatsoever right now. So if someone wanted to take the time and part it out themselves, then they could definitely make a profit. Actually if I had the time i'd even consider buying it from him and parting it out, but unfortunately I dont.
