Engine Mount/Water Pump Replacement Question
Engine Mount/Water Pump Replacement Question
Is there any problem in NOT supporting the engine when the Passenger side engine mount is removed for water pump replacement? The manual says that the engine should be supported.
The reason I'm asking is that I discovered that my dealership mechanic started the water pump replacement, then had to move my car before he finished the job. I know the engine was origianlly supported, but when they pushed the car to another location, they did not re-install the mount nor did they support the engine.
Do I have anything to worry about?
Thanks for your input.

Should be fine. Front/rear/transmission mount can support the weight without the passenger mount.
In fact, front and rear can support everything without passenger OR transmission mount.

It adds extra stress on the other mounts. I wouldnt leave it like that for long that is the reason the manual states to support the engine. You are supporting the motor mounts from premature wear. Tell your mechanic to knock it off and stop being lazy.
I felt uncomforatable when I saw it. The good news is that I now have the car back, and everything seems ok.....for now. That's what happens when you have everything except the gasket.
