Junk pre cat at 67k

I posted a thread a couple weeks ago about a light rattle coming from the firewall side of the engine compartment on decell. What i thought would be a loose heat shield somewhere turns out to be the rear bank pre cat.I threw a set of eibachs in the car last night and had my mechanic pry on every body and heat shield on the car while i was revving it and he said unfortunatly it seems to be coming out of the pre cat.Now what i don't understand is that if you look at a maxima pre cat the wrong way it throws a p430 and i have no cel and no lack of performance.I only ran 93 octane every fill up since 35k if that makes a differance or not. After reading krrz350's thread about rings on the front bank i have to admit im a little scared of grenading the motor.Working on a turbo kit which i won't be able to snag for a few weeks and that has headers with it but i dont have any other means of transportation for now, sucks to have to go through all the b/s of gutting them just to take them off again in a few weeks wtf

I wonder if the precats short lifespan has any thing to do with the ethanol they put in gas now. I have read of people having issues with sensors and such....

I also have a rattle on decel, I've had it for probably over a year. I am getting some Cattman headers soon (Brian should be shipping them out any day now)
Do you think I have caused any damage driving with the rattle so long?

I had the same exact sound on mine. Replaced rear (firewall) side pre cat and sound is completely gone. Upon closer inspection the mesh screen on the precat came loose and was rattling and some of the catalyst material inside was broken off in chunks.

The precats on our cars were bad by the time the car was driven off the dealers lot.

just gutted the cat it was the worst, most tedious thing i have ever done in my life and had i known this i would have just waited the two weeks for headers fml.Dropped the Y and started torching all the bolts on the Y and heat sheilds, then i dropped the Y and all the bolts are a pain in the *** to get to.so i dropped the cat finally and inside the rear bank cat is stuffed with what looks like radiator fins that the only way too really get it out is to chisel through it with an air chisel and i was almost done an hour later when the air chisel blasted through the cat.I welded the crack in the cat,got the rest of the stuff out of the cat and put everything back together, all and all it took about 5 hours from start to finish.
