bosch platinum +4's
I have a 93 Auto Maxima and I put the bosch +4 platinums in my car and I felt a major difference in the power of my car but the side effect is the that the car will start missing very badly in idle and it will almost seem to shut off when the engine is cold. I'm posting to let all of you know that the +4's are too strong for the stock coil of the max so they perform like a dream while the car is moving but as long as stoplights/signs exist they will beging ot damage you car. I switched to regular bosch platinums and all is well again.
well, you be the judge here...get a different coil if you have the $$$ and time, otherwise, you can leave them and just live with the rough idle because unless it's a daily driver, You want the power over the ride comfort. I have had the +4's and it did the same thing, then went to the NKG's and I loke them a lot better..
agreed

NEVER use anything buy NGK plugs -->
in your Max, whether VG, VE and even VQ.
I've been told by several Nissan mechanics that any other brand just causes problems with idle, etc. just like you described.....

AGREED!
I tried the +4's and my car's performance went to crap! I then bought a Jacob's I.C.E. Pack and bought the new NGK V-tech plugs gapped at 64 thousandths! I've got the power now!
Ah, how can a plug be too strong? It only transfers the coil spark to combustion chamber. The reason they felt better is becuase your old ones were..ah.. old.

i got the +4's in mine too. My car goes put put put put in idle, and when i turn the heater or anything on, if i don't floor it, it sounds like it's choking with that glasspack.

i put some +4's in my '92 se before i even drove it. i ran very poorly and kept on missing. the acceleration was horrible and i often thought i wouldnt make it through an inersection. it wasnt till i experimented with unpluging the coils while it was running that i figured out the plugs sucked. i bought some ngk's and the thing runs like a dream, i wont go with anything else.

I still have the +4's sitting in my garage and I'm probably just gonna put them in my daily driver (92GXE auto) or I can get some NGK's for it too, just like my 90SE....I got the ones for my "SE" off the net, but I want to go get some tomorrow, any suggestions? O'reilys, autozone, advance autoparts??????

NGK pricing
Just finished shopping for the NGK PFR5G-11's and here's what I found
Local NISSAN dealer $11
Local NISSAN dealer #2 $13.50
NAPA $12.00 each but 2-3 days to get
PepBoys $26 each and they wouldn't order
TrakAuto and AutoZone couldn't get
Various websites including Clubplug, AutoSupermart, CourtesyParts were all around $10-11
Should've gone to NISSAN to begin with

Re: NGK pricing
Oh MY GOD!!! I went out and bought the NGK's to replace the +4's in my 92GXE. Two words....HOLY ****!!! I neve knew that the +4's sucked that badly! The NGK's make it feel like the car had a whole new life. All for only $10 a plug! This is incredible! I think that the ones that I have for my 90SE are different than these...I could swear.
Whats in my max's:
New ones for 92GXE - $10 ea NGK DBL PLatinum
Current ones in 90SE- $4 ea NGK V-Power (I think)
