Oil Filler "Seal" off 350z:

I've got the beginnings of a little project (irrelevant here) and I noticed the 350z engine has a rubber "cup" around the oil fill opening. It seems this cup seals the gap between the oil fill opening and the engine cover.

So, I removed it to see if it would fit with the 3.5 engine cover. I've NEVER noticed on anyone's Max where this cup/seal exists. I'll be calling my local Nissan parts next week to see about getting one. Did these come on our Maxima's? I think it's a nice subtle addition. Thoughts?

I don't think I have one, but it's unnecessary. I can barely get my cap off by hand it's sealed so tight. Sometimes I have to break out a wrench or pliers.

I would totally put it on, if I hadn't already purchased a funnel. Even with a funnel, though, I could see the benefits of sealing the gap between the cover and the opening.

If you don't have a steady hand, the only difference the rubber cup would make is where the spilled oil goes. I'll stick with my funnel, I make less of a mess with it.

looks cool but I doubt it would seal properly with nwp spacers on.

LOL! You guys are funny! My main question is whether anyone else has had one on their cars. Other than that? I just thought it helped the cover look a little more "together." I don't mind if that's just me! :P

I never mentioned this becuase I thought it would save someone from using a funnel. I will still be using my funnel. Although, it will keep oil from dripping down onto the front valve cover...either possibly from the cap or removing the funnel. Likly hood that would happen being careful and sober? Little to none! But, I think it's a nice edition...albeit admittingly overall unnecessary. And this has NO effect on the cap sealing as it wraps around the outside the oil filler opening and "cups" outward to the engine cover. Cap goes on and off as normal, no hindrence.

Regarding the spacers? Why wouldn't it fit? The engine cover fits the same whether a person is running the NWP spacers or not. BTW....I AM running Aarons spacers.

I hear you lol. To answer your question no I never seen this on a max. And yes the spacers make a difference since the engine covers rear is bolted to the intake manifold. I would think the intake manifold is raised quarter to half an inch. I noticed a difference in getting to the oil cap when I installed my spacers.

You're right, the intake sits a bit higher in the back, just a tad. Hmmm, I'd be interested to know how much it is actually raised with the spacers. Maybe I would be surprised! I never noticed a difference in getting to my oil cap...just the clearence between my intake and FSTB...had to had a washer to the strut towers to raise the bar up for clearance.

Sorry, didn't know an update was needed or wanted. Saw little interest.
I can update on part number and price tomorrow.
As I had already posted, I've installed this already in my car, I have Spacers so i know it fits well, and images of oil fill "cup" are posted above. The images are of the cup installed on my 3.5 with Spacers.
