Dear Mr. Lawnboy615

Dohc refers to Double Overhead Cams. This is needed as engines that feature 4 valves per each cylinder have alot of valves to actuate. So what happens is they dedicate one cam to work the intake valves and the other to operate the exhaust valves.

Now get this, we have two heads(ie..V6), now if you have a V6 w/ dohc, then your engine actually has 4 cams!

But your car only has 2 valves per cylinder to you only need one cam to work the intake and exhaust valves on each head. Thus w/ a V6 you only have 2 cams total.

There will be a test at the end of the week.

Keep the flames down boys, the guy has to start somewhere right?

Lawnboy, in the future, I suggest you make use of this site's search feature or your brower's search feature. This will prevent you from looking like a total rookie. As you have learned, rookies have get a hard time here once in awhile. Just chalk it up to experience. I deleted the offending thread.
