I was installing the rear brake pads and wanted to check with you guys if the groove in the piston is suppose to line up with the little "bump" on the brake pad (the bottom grove on the piston, part you use to compress the piston and line it up with brake pad bump?)

yes

 

make sure you are turning the piston at the same time you are compressing the piston. when you get it compressed enough, make sure a slot is lined up with the pad.

 

Why do you need to have the grooves lined up?

 

the piston I dont think will sit proper otherwise against the pad.

 

might cause uneven brake wear or even failure.

 

another question, how do i get brake fluid out of the reservior mine is way too full now!

does the filter come out on the master cylinder? I have a syphon pump but wasnt sure if the filter on there is part of the master cylinder or can be seperated.

 

Don't mess with the screen. I use an old one of these for brake fluid. If you have kids, you know what this is.

 

how are you sucking fluid with that? and what is that? lol
