Rear Red LED Tail lights

So I've got clear tails and used Putco Red LED bulbs. Upon installation the dash display was as if a bulb was blown but was not. The first set melted within weeks The second lasted about 6 months before frying. Thank god they had a lifetime warranty and to shop refunded me. Any ideas why the problem?

Tks

Bob

LEDs don't use as much current as an incandescent lamp. This is why you had the bulb out indication. You have to add a resistor between the wire to the lamp and ground to prevent this. Most places that sell LEDs have the info on this and may even sell the resistors. As to whey the LEDs you bought went bad, I don't know.

You need load resistors.

Load resistor or digital flasher is necessary for LED signals.
