Head swap to get rid of ticking?

If I were to replace the Front and Rear Cylinder heads on my 02 SE with the same ones (used with lower miles), could I do that without any issues? Is there something else that needs to be done? I'm only asking to rid of the worsening valve tap that I'm getting. Any useful info will help and I hope I'm not asking a stupid question. Thanks

P.S. Engine as of now has about 150K

It's probably cheaper to replace the entire engine with a used one. Post a video, let us take a peek.

I was worried about the exact same thing (I also have ~150K) and I just had my mechanic run some chemical treatment through the engine to remove carbon/gunk buildup... this completely got rid of the valve tap/lifter noise or whatever it was. Also put a bottle of Lucas Oil Stabilizer in.

I bet you it was a combination of BG Products.

And I'm guessing this was after jowo9 ran Seafoam through the upper engine, gas-tank and crankcase.

I also predict that in one month's time he'll be hearing his mystery engine noise again. And that he's going to buy a bottle of Lucas Oil Treatment every month for the next half year until he gets bored of the new routine.

How am I doing, jowo9? This is where you scream, "Get out of my head!"

Agreed. That was just a temporary cover up of a more serious problem.

Knock! Tick! Ding! Rattle! Ping!

Not necessarily. A 10 year old car is bound to have its own idiosyncrasies. Add to that an owner with an obsessive attention to detail, and you're going to start questioning every single rattle and squeak.

Cars aren't perfect when they're driven. And even then.
