Need advice on purchasing a maxima...?

I found both a black 2000 SE 5spd with 197K for $1800 and a 98 gold GLE (all options) with 148K for $2400. The gold one needs front brakes and the front fenders have rust on the bottom front corners. Just trying to figure out if either one seems like a good deal or if they are even worth considering?

197K miles is getting up there, all depends on it's prior owner's maintenance.
Rust is never a good thing.

I actually am looking for a 5 speed 20th annie or a 2003 6 speed myself. I found an ad on craigslist for the link you provided. Another person actually went to look at this car and seems like he test drove it. It wasn't a good review.

Here is the link for the original ad :

Now here is the review. (make sure you read this)

Best advice is to probably stay away from that one since it sounds like you will have a lot of money to put into it. Take a look at the gold one or try saving up a little more to get one with less miles and in better condition. Any links to the gold one?

No problem at all. If you find a Maxima it should be one you will enjoy, not one that will enjoy your wallet.

had a 2003 that I loved, but it got repo'd. I found a 98 SE with 154K $2000...just needs from the resonator back on the exhaust replaced.

Yea. I got a 2000 se in an auto though :/. Certainly looking for a manual now.

That doesn't seem like a bad price.

My Accord is a stick. My 2003 Max was an automatic. I liked it that way...especially seeing how the Maximas are such a nice, comfortable luxury ride. I think having an auto gives most Maxima's the justice it deserves...Plus that 98 SE is an automatic.
