Man those Kumhos are heavy!

Just put them on yesterday. The old p.o.s. tires were about half as heavy..Maybe cause they're cheap?? I know that heavy wheels aren't good because it adds to unsprung weight...I don't race but dang! Anyone else compare the weight of those tires to others?? The are quiet and stick like glue though!! Took them forever to mount them because the sidewall was so stiff. later

Stiff sidewalls=flat tires.

Try weighing some Firestone SZ50s w/ the sidewall protector.

It takes a stiff tire to handle well; and a stiffer tire to go flat while cornering at .9G's.

I've had 18" Kuhmos for the last year, no problems...it all depends on driving style, condition of roads, ect. Describe "going bad" would you?

Going bad=flats. You are right about road conditions, some in Austin bite.

I don't get it. What do stiffer sidewalls have to do with the tires failing more often?

Stiffer sidewalls improve cornering ability by reducing squirm and flex, and lots (most) performance tires have stiff sidewalls. In fact, sometimes I hear of people saying the Kumhos aren't stiff enough.

HaHa! I got it!

I do like the tires though...feels like I'm riding on rails compared to those S rated 60's some bonehead put on them.
