Alright well I was with a friend on some backroads and we were going hard, and so when we pulled over to rest we discovered my front brakes were glowing red, I made the stupid mistake of letting the car sit there and cool instead of driving it around and cooling off and ever since these problems have been occurring:

Pads- Screech and squeal all the time, even when I'm not on the brakes. It sounds like the pads are down to the metal and they are rubbing onto the rotor.
Rotors- They are warped; the steering wheel shakes like anything when I'm on the brakes and so does the WHOLE car. It's very unpleasant. Also rusted, and being "etched into" for some reason (only left front rotor)

The thing is, it seems that it is only my front brakes that are giving me trouble. So should I replace all four rotors and pads for each?

My friend's father owns a NAPA store and is giving me 4 Brembo OEM Equivalent replacement rotors (My friend has seen them and said that some badging is removed and that's it, or something like that) and Metallic pads for the rotors for a grand total of 195.50, is that a good deal?

 

Are your rear brakes worn out too? If so replace all four rotors and pad, but they are not just replace you front rotors and pads. And have you ever done a brake flush on the car. If you have not I would recommend doing so after you install the brakes. Also SS brakes lines are a great upgrade for any brake system!! I'm running them my self along with EBC green stuff front pads and I'm loving the setup!

 

For that price?!? I would do all four! $196 is a good deal for all four corners!

 

I'm sure it's just the fronts but I thought I might as well get new rears as well. I don't think I've ever had a brake flush done on this car. I don't think I'll be getting SS lines, thanks for the suggestion thoguh

Make sure you lube all the guide pins real good, that is the key to making those calipers work....

 

Who said anything about calipers??? He was talking about rotors and pads....

 

If his rotors were glowing red he fried the pads and most likely cooked the fluid in the calipers. Get new calipers upfront. If i was the betting type i'd say you have a siezed caliper On the left front. Replace bth front calipers . You said you had etched the rotor and pad on left front, that's a sign of a seized caliper, which was common place with Infiniti.

 

Wow that is exactly what I was thinking is happening; I thought the pad wasn't retracting and was down to the bone so it was digging into the rotor. So I can't use these calipers anymore? Couldn't I just get new fluid instead of replacing them?

 

No. The fluid is not why the caliper seized. The brake caliper was seized due to internal failure. and therefor touching the rotor which will inturn cause the internals to get very hot, cooking the fluid and more importantly causeing the internal seals to leak. Caliper is done. The caliper seized prior to the rotor heating up. The rotor heated do to the seized of the caliper. You were driving for a extended time. And I'll bet your car pulled left if you let the wheel go..
