I am thinking about next upgrade.
I want to change fog lights to HID. As i understand I need H3s bulbs? Should I get kit on 35w? I dont want it to be super bright

 

If you want real HIDs you have to have the entire kit. I'd probably just get some white colored bulbs. A good kit will be a minimum of several hudred dollars.

 

Isnt there kits for $50? Or they are crappy?

 

50 dollar kit sounds pretty crappy. Thing is you need the ignitors...or ballast...or modules whatever you call them, plus the gas filled bulbs which can get pretty pricey. Plus the proper wiring to bring all that juice to the bulbs. I think I saw an advertsment on here for superbrightleds.com? Looks like they had some lights that would plug into the stock plugs and look pretty bright.

 

I use the Xentec kits all the time, for $33 shipped on ebay. They come with everything you need to install (i.e ballast, ignitor, wiring, zip ties....)

I have had them installed for over a year now with no problem. Even when it is cold, they fire right up.

Why spend the extra money?

Here, I have purchased lots of kits from this guy on ebay for family and friends. He is reputable, in my book!

Usually, OEM HIDs go for a few hundred but aftermarket kits are a dime a dozen these days and go for cheap.

Definitely get a 35W kit.

55W fogs will not only create an extreme amount of glare but the heat will damage the chrome reflectors and can possibly melt lenses (if they're plastic, I'm not too familiar with I30/I35 fogs).

 

Yea, their plastic. Get the 35 watt kit. The one I linked you, I use in my fogs.

I think in the other post, I voted that I think they are aesthic. (the fogs)

But, then again I run yellow. So......I'm not sure if they are brighter white? I would imagine?

Also, I smoked my fogs too.

I usually run 4300k (OEM White) or the 3000k ion yellow (in the fogs)

One more question, I heard that H3 bulbs are too long for fog lights, would I need some other size? On ebay link you send me I didn't find H3S or something like that. Did regular H3 worked good for you?

Personally, anything over 8k is just high powered color in my opinion. But, if you like them man......its your ride!

Its gonna be dim. Anything with too much color wont help you see siht.

Yellow is actually great in foggy type conditions. It cuts right through. When I say dim, Im referring to the output.

I agree, I made the mistake of getting 10K Headlights. Too blue, and I can't see anything. 8K Ftw

 

So where you think is brighter output? 3k or 12k?

 

3k, the brighter the k doesn't mean brighter the light. 4300k is ideal, thats oem on hid equiped vehicles. Personally, anything above 6k is going to start to dim due to color. 8k is entirely to blue. 3k is yellow.

FYI, lower temps (3000K-6000K) produce probably double the lumens that 12000K does. You're gonna regret those lol
