It's superimposed for your viewing pleasure. Notice how Jane's hp and torque ( http://wwwcsif.cs.ucdavis.edu/~chin/...dyno_scj_a.jpg ) were higher than mine (http://wwwcsif.cs.ucdavis.edu/~chin/.../dyno_sc_a.jpg ) from about 4400 to about 5400.

Once the 5th gen variable intake runners kicked in, it was the end of the 4th gen dominance. There's about a 80 horsepower difference at about 6300.

If you 4th gen guys can get the 5th gen variable intake to work on your cars, IMHO, you'll get better numbers than the 5th gens.

Jane is boosting about 10 lbs. and I'm doing about 11 lbs. Crazyness...

As soon as I can find one, its a little more difficult to locate one than I thought it would be. By the way those are some interesting numbers. I wonder if/how much HP 4th geners would lose down low with the variable intake?

Yup... 8:1. Dynoing 6:1 in February.

So now you can feel safe going back down to 6:1.

I only get 8.5psi of actual at the gauge boost outa my 3.25 with my V1. But the 3.125 will be on soon and that should get me to at least 9.5psi of actual at the gauge boost. Add some chilled water and look out!

When you do the 6:1 I would recomend you bring a set of two steps colder plugs with you, just incase the motor detonates a bit. This is soooo close to the edge with the 6:1 and 10psi that the two steps may be needed!

I still remember that advice you gave me after my dyno. Thanks.

Her motor detonated twice out of the 4 runs... happened at about 3300 when the dyno operator was starting to get the sampling. This doesn't happen during normal driving though. Any thoughts on this? Vacuum line to FMU is too long? I don't remember if the FMU runs off a tee, but I can check that when I get home today. Thanks for any advice/recommendations.

6300 rpms is very high to have such a difference. I know the 4th gen just drops at that time.

You should not lose any HP down low, that's the beauty of a variable inkake, it gives great low end and high end.

Green torque reading is 237.2

The really rich run was the first run, which made 233.6 hp and 236.6 torque.

About 5000.

 

With the cold weather my car is running very strong. I find under WOT that around the low 5000's (i find it is above 5000 for sure) that the car gets an extra kick so that explains it.
