JWT Pop Charger vs Stillen High flow Air Intake

I spoke with Shawn from stillen and he said a +5hp gain by getting their Intake, but i was wondering if anyone had info on how much gain does the JWT Pop charger provide.

i'm doing research as we speak but wanting to know if anyone that has the JWT can tell me the pros/cons and the same if anyone has the stillen

They are the same thing, same design, just a different color filter IIRC.

Search for threads on intakes, some say it is beneficial, others disagree. My vote is FI or go home though

Iirc is if i recall correctly, and fi is forced induction (supercharged or turbo'd)...
As for the other statement on the intakes being identical, they aren't. Courtesy Nissan claims 4+ HP gain average. The jwt is twin cone and blue and the stillen is a single cone and red. Where there is a cap at the end of the stillen, jwt uses a reverse cone for more air flow. Also the jwt comes with a pretty large velocity stack where as i believe the stillen just has a standard filter and Maf adapter. Someone correct me if im wrong on that one.

Either way, this thread will stir up a buncha nonsense and most people with claim ebay for $15 or stock as superior... i personally will be going custom but will settle for jwt in the meantime...

I was speaking with a friend of mine who owns a Z32 and he swears by JWT, and I still will call JWT tomorrow and ask what would i expect to see as far as gains go, but i won't lie since FI is out of $$$ range for me i'm settling for something that i can afford and enjoy.

As far as the nonsense goes, LET IT BEGIN!!! =D

IIRC, lol, I'm using the jwt adaptor, and it's freakin huge diameter. Something about smoothing air so it flows faster. But I used it with Stillen filter. I know it's a stillen filter cuz it says stillen on the end cap. I'm pretty sure it's a jwt adaptor cuz I picked up from them...

Which is better? Iono, but my hybrid worked fine. And 5hp by itself probably isn't gonna do much. Sounds nice though, either way you go, even if you choose ebay.

Regarding the "FI or go home", it's actually a good point. If I could go back in time, I'd probably not have bought the intake and stayed stock. For my daily driving, I need more tq across the band. With the intake, it felt like I lost some of that. It was great when drag racing, auto-x, hot lapping, etc anything WOT nearing redline. But that's like, once a month, vs daily driving daily.

Again, when coupled with other mods, the gains are more significant. I didn't have any other mods that multiplied the benefits of intake.

BTW, I think I still have 1 more stillen filter fs.

I am one of those guys Max_Dreamer is referring too, after trying out the stillen for a month and doing a little bit of studying on the subject, I say all velocity stacks are useless.

I have yet to try the JWT though, it has a dual element filter which should help a bit but it is not going to overcome to losses with a velo stack vs. non velo stack intakes.

Again, to help the OP, I say go with JWT, if you crave that overpriced overpraised filter.

autozone:
dual cone filter in color of your choice - $25
cheap fender wall adaptor - $5

sounds amazing and works well. just bolt the adapter directly to your maf, filter to adapter. easy. cheap. effective.

Place Racing or bust. Place Racing made the only TRUE cold air intake, the piping exits the engine bay and goes into the front fender. The filter then sits in the fender getting cold air from the grill and fog light holes.

Requires you to cut a 3 1/8in diameter whole beneath the fuse box, next to the battery tray to get the piping to run to. It was a fun project, it looks nice, sounds nice, and the top end is great.

Place racing or leave it stock. Anything else is an HAI noise maker.

Thanks guys, i'm going to do research on place racing because i've seen that spring up as well.

And if push comes to shove i'll keep the stock airbox for the mean time.

Proof? As in what a dyno sheet?

I had a Short Ram intake for a while and didnt like the power loss in the low end.

I noticed that while i did lose low end with the PR intake, I gained more top end.

Also, on cool days the car performs amazing since the air filter gets direct air flow from the outside

Yes actual dyno's on a dynojet or back to back ones on a mustang or DD would be awesome, butt dyno sheets aren't too reliable these days knowhaimsayin mang?

Till then, neither of our opinions are really valid.

/\ lol

Just so you know OP (original poster), Place Racing intakes are no longer available new, and rarely come up used in the classifieds. I believe there's one now in the classifieds, but it appears it's been modified and needs some TLC.

Ebay has knockoff PR CAI's for about $60 shipped IIRC. Grab one of those, replace the ****ty filter and enjoy.

Remove airbox
Grab some used pantyhose, cut around ankle area
Fit "sock" of pantyhose over MAF
Rubber band in place

Nearly restriction-free intake.

While you're at it, take a can of compressed air, turn it upside down, and blast that intake w/freezing coldness. +20hp right there.

True. I'm usually against knockoffs, but in this case there is nothing with going this route since a) Place Racing no longer exists and b) there's nothing high tech about the design. Therefore, a knockoff PR CAI is probably the way to go as long as you get a good filter as mentioned.

If anyone has a SRI and wants to go CAI, I have the longer pipe that connects to the MAF and goes into the fender FS. Just PM me if interested.

Well, if you're open to ideas, searched for "hacked airbox" for another free mod. Or search for "oscai"
