Hello all,
I was doing some suspension work tonight, adding KYB struts to my Maxspeed springs and when trying to attach my passenger side FSTB I accidentally snapped my Power steering pressure sensor. I unscrewed it to see if it could be re-soldered but looks hopeless. Courtesy wants about $132 for the part.

So my question is can I drive without it for now or is that stupid/dangerous. Anyone have a used one they want to sell?

In my defense the plastic was extremely brittle, I barely bumped it and it snapped right off.

the exact same thing happened to me about 3 years ago when i put the strut brace on... I wanna say it doesnt really have any effect other than throwing a CEL. I did however end up having to replace my high pressure power steering hose last year although it was a common problem with this car and it would have happened anyway... I still dont have that part and my power steering is flawless...

 

The p/s pressure sensor is used by the ecu to detect the high pressure present when the wheels are being turned when the engine is at idle. The ecu will increase the idle rpm to ensure that the engine doesn't stall. When driving down the street, the switch is ignored.

So without a working switch, if you are at idle and turn the wheels, you will see the engine rpm drop a little.
